we live in a really hard water area 250ppm but we can only use a di vessel as we live in a flat, we get about 3800 litres of pure water per 25 litre bag, tulsion is the best resin we have found to use, but we have seen on one of the forums that if you use 2 di vessels you get alot more pure water out of the resin, but can any one explain how this works not very bright on this subject, can't wait for your help

One acts as a pre filter and the other as a polisher. Double up and you'll save a fortune on resin. When your tds rises,put the 1st di into 2nd place and the 2nd di 1st but with fresh resin

You save a wee bit on resin but not much. Once the resin starts to go off, then after a few hundred litres it is well guffed and actually makes no difference to the water going into the second vessel, you might as well put it in through one as the resin is so ineffective in the first one. It is better than only one vessel but as I said, the saving is very little over all.
Added later, this is for DI only use and not RO, where the saving would be a bit better.

Absolute rubbish!!
Twin DI's will prolong your resin life big time. I've been doing it for 7 years & have ran tests with different resin brands etc.
Twin DI's with Tulsion MB115 resin is what I use now.
Going from 1 Vessel & Purolite resin to my current set up I've more than DOUBLED the resin life! ;)

I am going to agree with both of you to an extent, if you have low tds from tap then the saving will be minimal I think, if your tap is high tds it probably would save a bit more as it will take a longer to get the duff resin up to that reading.

My tap TDS is 70ppm & the old resin NEVER gets to that before the newer one needs changing. ;)

With your tds (250),you will get at least double the life out of twin di's as opposed to one

You are right Stu, I personally wouldn't bother with two vessels if I used an RO but Ronnie says the opposite if you read his "added later" bit. ;D

yes but ronnie doesn't use RO, the tap water in some places is that low anyway, but I will agree for the original post, twin di makes sense in my mind
I also know how to regenerate resin to save further money, but I have never put in to practice

spill the beans on this re generating resin bit.

I just took a reading. Water into my first 11 litre di is 33. Water out is 31. Water into second 11 litre di is 31 and the water out is 000. So for me the saving is only in the first few days when the resin is well below my tap tds.
