Hi Daz,
I think i could fund a nice holiday on the money i've wasted over the 7 yrs window cleaning :'(
No one thing i've wasted a fourtone on, just all the different squeegee's , pouches, applicator sleeves, clothes, scrapers.
then wfp, streamline poles are pants, microbore fittings male/female (cost alot for what they are)
Regards to ladder stand off, thought mine was not needed, until i used for conny roof clean; put on base section on ladder, then put standoff resting under conny roof gutter, just above window frames.
Really helps speed things up for conny roof cleans ;)
Ps: wish i had bought standoff with V notch in to rest on corners of wallls, for getting on top of kitchen extensions.
Will probably buy one soon, more money ;D

LYTE domestic ladder- strong as matchwood !

Gets to me when i really have a think about the money ive wasted, ive realy wasted ALOT of money.
Crap poles snapping, crap hose reels falling apart - the metal ones to, i wasnt happy with them! Crap micorbore splitting and bulging! The list goes on.
Fortunately now i know whats what now and get away with minimum expense. Ive just cut my fuel bill in half by getting a new van. I now use harris poles, and hozelock reels, cheap as chips and hard wearing!
This aint an expensive game unless you make it ;)

LWC how do you cut van fuel bills to half;
LPG?

Worst gear I ever bought:
Merlin RO,.. tap pressure to low & output tds was still over 50
Flag poles,.. light, short & clampless,... also whippy, short lifespan & they spin
Autobrush,.. great concept, but too heavy
Cheap work boots,.. used to go through 3 pairs a year. Decent Goretex all the way now
Cheap waterproofs,.. If you're going to be working in the wet you need gear that actually keeps you dry
Sealskinz,.. the quality of these gloves had disappeared completely. the last pair I got didn't even last 3 weeks of very light use. I use Fox gloves now.
Rectus 21 connectors. They don't last & they leak! I use the slightly bigger rectus 19 ones now, which are cheaper & actually do the job they're supposed to!

The two main items that spring to mind are a trolley and a couple of ladders that weren't up to the job.
At the start I bought a van mount, a trolley and a backpack. In hindsight, I should have left out the trolley. They're OK if you can't do a van mount but otherwise, van mount and occasional backpack have been fine.

2 very exspensive mistakes
merlin ro, complete and utter waste of time, rubbish pure tds level and an appauling waste ratio.
emporium modular poles, snapped in half, chipped, splintered, stuck together, blah blah and emptied my bank account by well over £400

wheres the merlin gone
long gone now, I have a 4040, when the merlins membranes were shot I did advertise it on here as spare housing, thought it might be useful for someone who had cracked one in cold weather but there were no takers so it went to the tip
