Title: Remote switches

I have been using WFP with an on/off valve on hose about 9ft from brush head and it is a great way to save water between windows. Only problem is that this is a bit sore on pressure switches( need a new one every 2 - 3 months). My system has a remote switch on it but it didn't work around corners or out of line of site of the pump box, so I stopped using it as I had to go all the way back to the car anyway for it to work. Can anybody recommend a seriously powerful remote switch and where to get it?

I'd also be very interest to know.

I remember Mr Moderator, the very nice Mr Giles, posting that he used a remote switch but I can't find the posting.

Hi Bob.

If I were you I wouldnt bother with a remote. Invest in either a Varistream MK2 or an eco flo regulator. You can turn your water off at your valve and they will do the job for you by turning your pump off. Then when you turn on again they will switch it on. Plus you get real flow control from them.  Just my opinion as we looked into remotes for our system and weren't really impressed at all.

Ian has one, but has stopped using it.  He showed me his system last night.  Sometimes the remote worked, sometimes it didn't; so to prevent him having a heart attack; he stopped using it.

Ian's the type of guy - I'm sure he'd agree - that if a bit of kit doesn't work; he'll thump it.

He broke his pump box cover in a similar way.

Here's my solution...
I've got a varie stream regulator (Left the pressure switch connected) then at the end of the hose where the pole connects to it I've got a normal plumbing isolating valve with numpty, cost about £2.00 from screwfix last's for ages and ages
To fit cut two small lenths of copper pipe(the small lenght will not contaminate the water) fit to either end of the isolater (compression joints) then push hose over each side (tight fit) and secure with jubilee clips. and there it is a simple on/off switch that can take all the dropping and knocking that you can give it, and cheap...
