Just back from a job where customer had tried to use vanish foam on some grubby marks in her bathroom 80/20 mix and turned it a yellowy colour.
Told her she may have taken the colour out of the carpet but tried various spotters while cleaning the other rooms, debrowner, rust remover and as a last resort Sod met. but nothing.
Showed and explained it to her then carried on with stairs, then she comes back to me, phone in her hand and shes speaking to the vanish makers who of course are denying all responsibility and saying she must have done something wrong, she asked me if the carpet was wool and after telling them what I said (80/20 mix) they told her it shouldn't be used on wool or wool mix carpets :o
No where on the bottle does it say not to use on wool, customer happy with me but extremely pi**ed off with them and said shes taking it further, not suprised really. ;D

i bet it does say it on there some where. be shocked as they must sell thousands a year and it's not uncommon to come across vanish marks, heck we see them sometimes weekly with rented places so they'd be getting complaints daily if they didn't put it some where.

Same here, really don't know why the agents don't put it in their contracts, and ban tenants from using the stuff

just checked the srpay and mousse. the spray says it's woolsale certified but to check for colour fastness, and the mousse says check for colour fastness especially on wool. doub the customer will get very far tbh

Looks like a small print issue. They will have thought this all through to cover themselfes too..

Am I reading this wrong ??? She has been told by the makers of Vanish not to use it on wool or woolmix but yet it is marked as woolsafe!

The bottle she had "Vanish Power Foam" had nothing on it to say that it should not be used on wool, read it myself.
According to her, she said they told her it shouldn't be used on wool/high wool content carpets ???

can you find an image of the one she had? googling vanish power foam i found only one product and on ocado site is clearly says "Vanish Powerfoam respects fibres and colours and is suitable for use on wool carpets."

As with most products it will say some thing alongthe lines of.
Test in an inconspicous area. think that covers it.
even the tv adverts do have some thing along the lines of. Tested on nylon / polypropolene.

Found the one you saw on the Ocado site, the bottle she had was slightly different, newer I think but basically looks like the same stuff but like I said nothing was on the bottle she had.

Does it say anything about rinsing on the bottle?
I remember in the early 90s being involved with a battle about Flash(powder) vs Marmoleum (lino).
Eventually a little small print line of "may require additional rinsing" was added to the boxes.
