Title: Night cleaning
Post by: Crystal-clear on May 17, 2011, 07:14:58 pm
Does anyone do this ? this may be a silly question but has anyone considered cleaning the odd domestic at night if the customer agreed.

I've done some commercial night cleans before, both internal and external window cleaning, mostly where the building owners dont want any disturbance or interruption during business hours.

Domestic this wouldn't work for your regular custies, they'd throw a fit call the police and probably try and have you sectioned under the mental health act  :D

However if an individual customer asked for this kind of clean for some particular reason, then price accordingly and my night rate would be very High then I dont see why not  :D

Done plenty of night cleans on the commercial side but are you really serious about a night shift on domestics?

Do you mean nights as in late evenings up to 9pm or a pure night shift through until dawn?

Either way what would possess you mate?? ;D ;D

Actually if you think about all those dead hours where our vans and equipment are sitting idle doing nothing, then maybe it's not such a bad idea  ;D

I'm so busy at the moment three 8hr shifts for every 24hrs seven days a week and I still dont think I'd catch up  ;D

Yeah, can't see a problem with it. You go walking around houses at night cleaning your custies windows. I'm sure none of the neighbours will mind ;) Get one of those head torches and flashing led's on the end of your pole and hit the road mate.
Night vision goggles are also an option, about 2K from the surplus store I think. If you wear a head torch though, don't forget not to smile too often, you'll get mozzies stuck to your teeth. If you can't get a head torch, try and get hold of one of those miners helmets. Paint it with Hi Viz paint so you don't get hit by cars when crossing the road from custy to custy though.
You might want to wear soft trainers so you can keep the noise level down to a minimum. If the cops stop you (I doubt it though) just say you've got too much work on and you need to catch up.

Will you still work if it's raining though? Would your custies be OK with rain?

Anyway, let us know how you get on mate.

Mahahah brilliant replies :)

ofc not on my regular domestic work lol was mainly looking at my van and thinking if that van could possibly run 24/7    8)

but what if you built a round of customers that were for some reason happy to have there windows cleaned between say 6pm and 10pm ? offer them the day clean price and the night clean price the night clean being cheaper !

before you know it your vans running most of the time maybe you employ someone for the night shift you wont make as much money during the night and you would have to pay wages but still just a thought.

to be honest im not sure if its legal . to work at night imagine all the complaints you could get from the neighbours.

do them during the night when they are sleeping  do not chap the door for the money if the y are having sex they may ask you to join them if you do a good job this could start a trend among the neighbours

this could be the way forward  think outside the box

I cant see it being a problem in the summer months if they agree mate if you promoted it as a hours of lightness deal,

I couldnt see it working in the winter due to the darkness,

I personally wouldnt want a night service as the kids would be in bed but I also wouldnt want tesco/asda etc delivering my shopping in the evening either but they have a demand for it.

Dean.

just imagine if you had say 50 customers that agree to a night clean only yes in the summer time only it would be interesting little experiment !

Normal price £15 if you are happy with us cleaning your property on the night shift its £12  or £11 it will need to be considerably cheaper for interest. ;)

wonder how many would go for it

I have several industrial units and a couple of office blocks which I either do early in the morning, or in the evening.. the latest I've done them is around midnight!! Wish I had more of them!!

A friend of mine does some domestics at night (trad). I believe he sometimes works until 10pm.

I don't know what his custies think, but he is one of those guys who couldn't care less what they think. If they don't like it, he would just tell them to take it or leave it.

Although he is a good friend, I must say he is also a tad eccentric!

Any city centre has loads of window cleaning going on thru the night, but that is the most sensible time to do it.
I know what you are saying about the van laying idle over night but imo the vast majority of homeowners would tell you to forget it. There is also the dreaded H&S aspect re falling into the fish ponds etc etc.
