Hello all
Had a customer ring up today asking for me to come round and check on some work that a previous carpet cleaner has done. Stain that was not obvious before clean has shown up and she wants advice on what to do.
Get the imprssion that it was a rouge with a hirer machine but she wound not say.
Should I charge for the visit, she may not want me to resolve the issue and will go back to the original cleaner to get this resolved but still wants a visit.
Cheers

If you attempt to remove the stain and it does not come out the problem then becomes yours, personally I would advise her to get the original cleaner back to sort it out.

If the other cleaner wont come out then go but say you have a £20 'advice charge' (for your time) providing its close to you.
When you view the stain youll know if its going to improve or not so then say you can attempt to fix it for £60 and will forget about the advice charge. Offer no guarantees.

Neil,
If the complainant is not prepared to say who did the job I would stay well clear.
You are unlikely to get anything out of it and you may invlove yourself in something that will escalate .
Cheers,

I would have to agree with "stay clear", the customer should be advised to contact the original cleaner. other peoples problems become yours when you agree to take it on.

Did job today, Went around just to have a look and as I thought other cleaner was a friend of family who she felt embarised to call back in.
It seemed that he just took off the top layer of dirt and pulled the rest out of the base without removing it. I charged her just for the callout and removed all the remaining dirt and grime and it came up a treat.
He only dables in carpet clean I was told. Did not Vacuum or Pre spray so no wonder that it was left in such a state.
Cheers for all the advice

Forget what everyone says about charging for a bit of time, give and the shall receive (and I'm not a religious man). Just goes to show what a bit of investment of time will pay.... dividends, I assume you'll be contacting them in 12months.....
ITS ALL ABOUT SERVICE!!!!!!
