Hi all,
Who has got a split charge relay fitted from their van altenator, and did you diy fit or pay a professional ? If so how much did you pay ???
Cheers :)
-
Cleaning spot do a variflow with a split charge built in. :)
-
How does this work ????
-
You need two batteries. The split charge decides which one needs charging, and also will not let your main battery run flat.

got mine done yesterday £40.00 ;)

I know how a split charge relay works ;D Meant how does the varistream controller one wire up ? , see i am getting mine split from the van alternator - but yes i know there is a simple way of just bridging a cable between the van battery positive and pump battery positive, but you also need to install a switch, which i assume is where this varistream kit comes in ??? Or am i wrong ?
I was looking at the pro way of doing it so the pump battery charges from the split relay wired directly to the altenator with a chassis earth for the pump battery. Is this the set up you got for £40 Gav ???

thats the set up I have, I too paid £40 to a mobile auto electrician fitted a couple of years ago.

Looks like me paying £100 to the local auto electrics specialists is expensive then.....
-
he was doing 3 vans (two belonging to a friend of mine) approx 25 mins work each @ £40, but yes maybe 100 a bit steep
-
did mine myself took me about 20 mins and cost me about £5 ;)
I will dig out the wiring diagram if anyone wants it

Why don't people bother to do a search on the subject before they post a question?
It's been discussed numerous times along with other more simple solutions.
Mind you, he hasn't even read the replies correctly; Variflow has become Varistream.

I think you need to get one of these http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/flowmaster-digital-pump-controller-with-battery-charger-facility-p-273.html you connect it to you pump battery as you would anyway, and then another wire goes to your van battery.

Always some Pratt that moans about someone asking a reasonable question but don't moan about the numerous threads about complete and utter waffle that this site is littered with these days!!!!!
