Title: Google adwords
Post by: Raymondo on May 04, 2011, 03:47:12 pm
We recently tried google adwoods with yell.

They tell me that we have had 10140 views where someone had seached for shrewsbury carpet cleaners and 210 clicks on our ad since September.

But that all they can tell us they dont know who is clicking or the dates or times it all a bit vague..

Is their a way that we can see where the clicks are coming from to see if it is working or not.

We get phone calls from people who say they are google and can help us.

It all a bit vague and a bit confusing.

Ray

It should be either or.

If you have a Google Adwords account, you will have all the information you need in your reporting area. Can you log into your Google Adwords account?

No they are not. They may be adwords accredited (you only have to show you have run campaigns to get this "qualification") but they do not work FOR Google directly.

Buy a local number for £5 a month. Put it on the adwords copy and check how many called through the telephone host.

Good idea Dave.

Probably much more reliable than those special tracking numbers allocated by people like Yell or BT Customer Stret / Ufindus etc

Here's a general rule I go by.

If someone from a big company calls you (usually a rep) and says they have a solution to your marketing woes by simply handing over some money and you say Yes.

Then you would be better off going outside and tipping the contents of your wallet down the nearest storm drain. This way at least you don't get your hopes up or worse, do nothing else in the expectation of a result.
