Title: Blue micro cloth verses scrim?
Post by: Klean07 on May 04, 2011, 08:58:39 am
I was curious as to what everyone else uses to detail windows when doing them trad.
For last couple of years I've used the blue micro cloth but just lately this cloth leaves a trail of smears etc. Does this cloth have a shelf life? Or could you use it untill its worn out?
Sensible answers please!!

Microfibre cloth does wear out, I usually replace mine after a year, but I dint use it for detailing, I use scrim, I find it much better fir detailing, but new scrim needs wearing in.

Mine is quite old too but not 3 years old. Is it better to have it moist like a scrim or bone dry?

scrim does it for me still have to wash them every week. but you cant beat em. wash your scrim with a water softner in the water saves all the hard work and leaves em nice and plyable.

i use both microfibre and scrim.scrim is better on a damp day as they last longer before needing changing.microfibre is great for buffing up leaded.

10 unger microwipes(very large ones)and unger grade A pre washed.

dont use fabric softener when washing microfibres.if you have then you ve ruined them!i change mine every few years.

Mine cost about a fiver each. So compared to scrim a better buy.
