Title: totally fed up
Post by: JSMC on May 03, 2011, 04:29:33 pm
seriously fed up just now and have been like this for a few months. Dunno what is up but feel like i'm getting nowhere fast. losingcommercial work andnot reallypicking up much domestic work either thesedays.

i feel i have hit a crossroads and starting to think which way to go. Do i go back into Health and Safety / team leading/ Auditing or continue as is.

 ???

yeah i know the thought of working for someone again and what it would be like. RWC as for the gutter vac theprices up here arevery very poor. you are dealiong with guysquoting 10-20 quid per house. You see the vans driving about with this on it.

find myself becoming not lazy but not as much get up n go as previous.

We all go through this from time to time (had mine last year)...when you feel down....that's it...you feel down.

Prices ...does'nt sound like you can do alot about that if your area has reached it's limit...but you can go out and do a leaflet/canvass get some more work to fill in the gaps.

Do you have a hobby?, perhaps you're after that special gizmo that'll make it all happen? or then again perhaps you need a break...set yourself a 'realistic' target and go out and get it...not just for the customers numbers but so you get something 'special' you want.

Sorry to hear your down...

It'll get better...you just have to make it better...if that fails...just think you could be 'Tosh'!

Cheers
Dave. :D

how can you be as down as you were when you had all the snow?(i know you lot up scotland had it real bad for months!!)

ive been off for nearly 3 weeks due to ankle injury but im steadily getting back into it.great to be out working in this dry bright weather.

sounds like you need a holiday mate.

by the way do you earn well out of window cleaning?or do you just about get by?

this could be your problem!

ive been reading that e myth revisited book that slumpbuster recommended.there is a section about people working very hard for little profit and doing all the work themselves for little reward and getting very fed up with it as well as exhausted.

do you have quality time with family and friends as well as a good healthy business?

Sorry to hear that JSMC.  It always passes though.  I think we all get phases like that at times.  My own remedies (though they may not work for you) usually involve getting away somewhere for a few days.  Not really important where.  Just somewhere different that is pleasing.  Another way for me is to go out canvassing and try to freshen things up a bit.

when i get down i normally think there is always someone worse off,  prisoners for example.
everyone has low spells from time to time, periods of low energy. Dont fight it, except it as part of the human condition!

been the same for months now mate, don't even enjoy doing my easy well paid stuff and tripping over other new window cleaners  every five minutes doesn't help. I used to get more out of it when i was building and still pick up work slowly now via recomendation even thought of dropping some flyers but even i get at least 2 a week through my door so can't be arsed.
It can be a great job but boring and lonely .

if you cant get motivated when the weathers this good then you might as well pack it in now!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

on a serious note.how long have you been window cleaning JSMC?

I have had low motivation at times but likes been said it passes but its usually in the winter months not on sunny spring days!

if you ve been going for a few years, work hard and are established then you gotta ask yourself why your not making a healthy profit out of window cleaning.

work is like a drug sometimes for me!i love it! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey mate, chin up. I gotta admit this last year has probably been the worst for motivation and have been very fed up, winter months really didnt help!

You just gotta plough on mate, ive come out other side now and am enjoying it again! As others said get out there and do something, little break away, hobby, surely youve got some v dubs that need modifying :D

When i was down i wasnt doing anything bar going out to work not enjoying it, coming home and staying in. Its not all that healthy! Go out and see a few mates, and when they tell you they do 40 hours work and take home around £200 a week, thatl make you feel better.

Things aint always as bad as they seem mate, trust me.

whole country has taken a beating with the recession making everybody feel down and we are very good moaners here in U.K.

i was sick of wearing myself out with a killer workload +many Proper whiners on my round dragging the spirits down so i took on a lad parttime who  can bat off the whiners (squeegee at same time of course)  and i just took on a 2nd p/time lad yesterday and he will be leafletting/grafting/pleasing the unpleasable  and then i will enjoy my life more

well my missus went to see the surgeon yesterday.its bad. :( :(

shes gotta have her left breast removed and lymph nodes under her arms.chemotherapy, radiotherapy and take anti-cancer drugs for 5 years after surgery. >:( >:(

i dont know whether she can take it anymore as shes had liver cancer a few years ago.shes absolutely devastated.all of us are still in shock.

i couldnt face going into work today.ive been up half the night.

lifes too short to be doing a job you hate.my missus has just done a degree and has loads of things she wants to do in teaching before she retires(shes 50).

her best mates son just wants to kill himself at 22 years old. :( :(

puts things into perspective.dont waste a second of our very precious life.

Surely this is the market to canvass then.
I hope you get your head around whatever it is that's making you so low.

Daz,

My sincere best wishes go out to you and your other half.

Tragedies like these puts our own problems into very stark perspective. When we think we are the only one suffering, we find we don't have to look very far to find someone who is really going through the mill.

John.
