Title: Rough hourly rate
Post by: shine services on May 03, 2011, 12:36:56 pm
Hi all,
Just wondering what everyones hourly rate is for trad window cleaning and is there a big increase for wfp, As im trad so switching would lose alot of custom I fear.

I know my rate will differ from joe bloggs but just to see if im far off, Im above average price for my area but I feel its still far to low at £11-£12 p/h. this is because there is alot of slap n dash charging far to little for far too long.

anywhere between £20-£60 an hour depending on what work im doing(mostly wfp)but that is "on the glass"hourly rates.the hours spent filling up,admin, collecting etc etc all bring it down if you count it in.

£11-£12 an hour "on the glass" is way too low even for traditional window cleaning IMO!should be averaging £25-£30 an hour to make  half decent money in this game.

Trad should average about 140 quid an hour per man. WFP about 200 quid an hour (On the glass). 8)

( runs for cover ) ;)

Shine, Daz is right.  Now is it because you're slow or under-priced, or both?

How much would you charge for a standard semi (if there is a beast) with 8 or 9 windows, and how long would that take you to clean?

some hours you will earn £25 and some hours you will earn £50 odd, try to think more about the days earnings mate.

one man trad should be able to do £150 a day, based on a 6hr day

Quite right. On average I clean about 30 £15 houses a day - and if I'm feeling fit I can do that before lunch at 11am having started at 10am.

£150 a day trad................ dream on.

Take off your costs - fuel - vehicle - tax - etc & then what would suit you £££ ?

Depends on your area & competition - i find rough areas will pay what you quote due too no one wanting to work the area & better areas are a honey pot for all W/Cs & jobs are harder to find.

Rosskesava , with you there mate , the tools are out again , when i was trad  i was lucky to see £80 for a days work , still good compared to the last job , my work was hard and a bit underpriced , but if i could earn £150 by hand then give me back my 325 beemer with a rack and no hassles .

Sure it could be done in essex , seen em all havin there vajazzles done in their spare time  , not in Plymouth though mate !

i love these threads... all the jealous windys with there underpriced work start bashing there keyboards  ;D

there was a windy on here the other week showing off his new porsche! i think he said he started from scratch in 2008!

there is also a windy in my town who still rides a bike and earns just enough to buy a bottle of lidl washing up liquid a week  ;D

so... to answer your question what you can earn seems to be in direct relation to who you are and your mindset!

I think you've mis-understood that thread GB. Lee Pryors has been going for years and has a fair sized business. He's no newbie. He runs a new franchise/ work system lately and is one of the high flyers in his area.
He really does do well.

That's not right Stan.

ok maybe i did misunderstand but here is his own words ive copyed and pasted for you to read! ;D i think about what he said here alot actually...

"I really appreciate the kind comments guys.

Anyone can do it!

I started my business in 2003 with £200 and knowone to teach me anything and no forum to ask for help on, I just made it all up as I went along. I had never done a manual job or even been up a ladder untill my first day.

The one thing I am glad of is that right from the start I approached it as a business not a job. IMO that mindset makes all the difference

I always concentrate on 2 things 100% of the time

1 keep the customer happy

2 make as much money as possible"

inspirational i think!

I've got no problem with what you post GB. I'm not being funny eiher. In my opinion, this mlarky can earn anyone with ambition, a very good income. I'm not suprised by Lee's success. The guy is very driven and keen to get on. It's a mind set thing IMO.
I've seen people put even bigger business together in less than 7 years.

i have some work that with a little elbow grease can earn £60 an hour, on an average day though i earn around £30 for the first 2 hours, then around £15 per hour after that for however long i stay at it, you start to get tired around lunch time and customers get more chatty which holds me up

What bit's not in Plymouth Rich, the £150 per day or the vajazzles being done in your lunch break???

I never let my vajazzle become neglected but that's just me I guess ;D

How much would you charge for a standard semi (if there is a beast) with 8 or 9 windows, and how long would that take you to clean?

For an average 8-9 window semi I would charge £6-£7 and would get it done in 20-25 mins. I know that would make my on the glass rate £18 an hour but including the time spent collecting, driving around, loading etc Im lucky if I pull in £100 for an 8 hour day.
My area is small villages and quite rural. I do have some compact work in town but my town is very small.

I have canvassers out at the min and have told them to price high as alot of my work is underpriced due to my own inexperience when I started.
