Just wondering after licencing in Scotland, has it got rid of the £3 quid sid type of window cleaners, topping up dole money, is it properly policed, and has it been a help or hinderence.

30 years cleaning never once had to show licence to anyone ,a guy in next town was reported for not having one ,had to stop working until he got it,9 weeks in that time new guy came in and took over, can be a good thing but does cause a lot of grief :)

No it hasn't got rid of the £3 cleaners, police are to busy with real crime, and it can be a hindrance, with council borders meaning you need more licenses.
But we have it so I try to use it to my advantage to sell my services. the police and councils do clamp downs now and then and it seems to help, but come spring the unlicensed guys appear again. I think it really depends on the council and much they enforce it, I suppose it vary's depending on area.

the licence is just a tax in my eyes. Doug is doing his best to get councils and police working to enforce it but i think it mus tbe like hitting your head on a brick wall.
The 3 quid houses are still there i'm afraid.

what would happen if every wc in scotland said, we aint getting a licence?
-
licence hasn't stopped the beer brigade, just another hinderence
-
if i ever decide to employ or have someone sub for me it then becomes tricky. it could cost a lot of money finding the right guy and going through a few licences in the process.

alrite guys is it right that theres 6 councils that dont have a license

So why have 6 councils decided not to and the others have?
;D

Don't know you would need to ask them :D I would imagine they are rural with low population, and the cost of administrating a license would outweigh any benefit of enforcing it, but really I have no idea you would need to ask the councils.

Does Scottish wc's really benefit from licencing as I can not see any evidenc for it.

its a pure rip off a licence for every area at £120 each you could accept it if it covered the whole of scotland what a con

do you work in Scotland then??

would love to see them try this. that could open one almighty can of worms. you could just turn around and say joiners work witht public are they compliant with H&S and how come they are not licensed etc.
SLWCN must feel like they are hitting a brick wall each day. doug is trying his best to make things better but a lot of work required.
i'm sure the courts can fine ye up to 2k if you dont have a licence and take you to court.
