Does a harness need to be worn on cherry pickers (mewps)?
All equipment should comply with all the requirements under any statutory provions such as the personal protective equipment regulations 1992.
If the planned method of work is such that the user of the machine lose control phisicial contact with the working surface there will be a free fall, it will be necessary to choose fall arrest eqiupment but why does nobody use them?

Hi David,

As far as I am aware and other jobs I have done, YES, you do have to wear a harness.

MHSW requires a risk assessment to be carried out to identify the nature and level of the risks associated with a lifting operation.
1 the load being lifted
2 the risk of the load falling and striking a person or object and the consequences
3 the risk of the lifting equipment striking a person or some other objects and the consequences
4 the risk of the lifting equipment failing in use and the consequeces
Ive seen booms knock over vans!!!

Hi Again David,

Just remembered, you also need to ensure you have an operative on the ground aswell as in the cradle.
