GB
ask the custy who paid for it ;)
usually they have some sort of film on them and usually a slight tint to the glass....
-
As above - if the custy doesn't know then just stick with pure water.

can you not use detergent or tfr on self cleaning conny roofs?
-
plus thers a drag on it when you squeegee
-
Your not supposed to.
customers with new SCG roofs like to point this out...
followed by... that cost us over £6k
to which i answered once - well why do you need me to clean it then ? money well spent!

if using chemicals makes sure there very dilute.....
imo id just stick to a good scrubbing and pure water if ya not to sure!!
-
yeah, think i'll stick to pure water if im not sure
-
also can those corrigated plastic/polyurethane style roofs be self cleaning?
one of my custards as got one she says is self cleaning.which doesnt seem possible to me.
i know not to use a stiff brush on them because of scratching.
-
GB im cleaning one of them plastic corrugated roof jobbies tommorrow for one of my existing customers £30 for roof £20 for the windows.
ill use a 5L PRESSURE SPRAYER filled with water/tfr.
spray on and leave for a few mins then wfp off with my clx and vikan mono brush(better scrubbing power).itll take 30 mins and 40 mins to clean the windows. ;) ;D ;D
i clean it annually for this customer.

Im gonna get one of those presure sprayers daz. where did you get it from mate and how much? also where do you get your tfr from?
Do you always use your mono bruch for roofs? and is it flagged or none flagged?
I bought a vikan stiff sill brush none flagged, but after chatting on here im now afraid of scratching plastic roofs with it, so i might use my flagged sill brush ???
im confused still about brush types :'(
-
Ive cleaned a few self cleaning conny roofs, all you need is just pure water
the ones I did were brand new but acoording to the builder they needed to be washed to activate them.
-
hi GB i got my 5L pressure sprayer from B&Q (£15)its handy for roof cleaning and fascias.
tfr is from a local car parts supplier.
i use either the vikan rectangle mono or the stiff vikan sill brush depending on how dirty the job is.the vikan sill is great for really stubborn muck.
i use the vikans for these jobs as they have better scrubbing power than the supalites IMO.
by the way ive never had an issue with scratching plastic with the sill brush but i wouldnt use it on a self cleaning glass roof as it might affect the coating they use that supposedly make it "self cleaning". ;D ;D

dazmond...
thanks for all your advise mate.
juat one more question ;D honest! ;D
how do you tell if its a self cleaning conny roof? just take the customers word for it?
what if the custy doesnt know, do you presume it is self cleaning to be on the safe side?
sorry that was 3 questions ;D

Don't worry the custie will know whether its self-cleaning or not as this would have been drilled into their brains by the salesperson that sold it to them. Therefore that'll be the first thing they tell you.

thanks. what if they bought the property with the conny already installed, they might not know then!
