Title: Replaced my waste tank gasket
Post by: M.Acorn on April 21, 2011, 07:35:58 am
Made so much difference, trouble is I am now getting foam sitting on the inside of the lid,and it also builds up on top of the filter housing.
Prochem Steempro powermax .that is with using a de foamer,is this an issue ? Had both vac motors in there for around 18 months, going for a personal record,as they have never lasted so long. And I want too keep it that way always let it run for a good 5 mins after each job, give it a good rinse out,and leaving the waste lid off in the van,so it does not sweat in the heat

Maybe air is getting through the new seal mark.

Are you running the de foam through the hoses.
Try a terry towel under the lid to make sure it is air tight, sometimes new waste lid gaskets take time to bed in properly

The new gasket was twice the thickness of the old one,I have to push the lid down to get it to seal,or it just sucks in air through the top.Knowing them I have probably been sent the wrong one, will try the towel method, and see how it goes.
Cheers guy's

No Mark it is the right one mate, they sometimes take couple of weeks to seal correctly, is the lid adjusted properly so i9t sits flush on the gasket?
Im sure in a few days it will be perfect mate

It's had a couple of weeks of full on use Mark, but yeah like you say I think it will settle down a bit more,it's fine as soon as I push the lid down,it's stuck down really well, cleaned all the gunk off with solvent, and stuck it down, then used machine, lid fits fine.

My mate has a powermax and he has had lots of foaming issues, even to the point where foam was injested into the vacuums and dirty water leaked all over the customers kitchen floor  :-\

He phoned Prochem up, they suggested changing the filter (he did), replace the tank seal (he did), ensure that the filter is sitting at 1 o'clock in the tank thats away from the inlet (he did) BUT still the damn thing leaks (injests, and that's no good for the vacs as we all know)  ???

And before anyone says anything he uses craftex de-foam (although I've told him to change to Alltec's)  ;)

IMO the powermax's are useless. For a twin vac there's just NO (or very little) SUCTION!!  :P I think a Sabrina 1   2-stage performs better  :D

Mark, I would ditch this machine and go for something with abit more of a kick  :)

It sucks like a Dutch ho though !
I always use liquid de foamer, seems the foam just floats on top of the water, measuring my pre spray exactly,so it must be from prior cleaning ?

Quite possibly it's what the custy has attempted to clean her carpet with (we always ask before starting, if it's certain products we put more de-foam in).

One thing I do Mark is not only do I put de-foam in the waste tank (3 -4 squirts), but squirt some in the inlet or hose end (think you already mentioned that) BUT not just at the begginning of the job, EVERYTIME I EMPTY & REFILL - that keeps my tank foam free!!  ;) Expensive I know but I'm keeping my vacs foam free  8)

Carpetmasters,
what porty do you use ? I have a Powermax and it performs very well for me . I would like to get a 3 vac machine in the near future though.

Ben.
