a customers asked me to clean his black plastic gutters ,i have looked and they look clean already but faded, greyish in places . anybody know a way to make them look better after i have scrubbed them by hand? ive a feeling the sun has dulled the plastic
-
boot polish ???
if sun faded then i doubt anything will restore the colour.

cheers for the idea of the BOOT POLISH. i think the bloke has seen a house at end of terrace with new gutters so he feels left out . As its a small gutter run, only 13 feet front and same at the back scrubbing first with water+ cif on a rag and then bootpolishing the lot wont be ridiculous to do
-
reverse them round they look like new...done this on a job of black faded gutters and customer was over the moon

Try the stuff you can buy to do car bumpers from halfords etc, or maybe some from wilkinsons that might be cheaper
-
better clean - good idea

new gutters
-
new gutters would prob be cheaper and less hassle really easy to fit just measure length of old ones
-
update- i first wiped them with a rag+cif , came up shiney but still faded and a bit grey . then tried the black boot polish, no good still looked grey
as i was finishing the owner came outside and asked was there much muck in the gutters then . turns out he meant clean the insides only (although on the phone he said it was the outsides of the gutter he wanted doing )

ive got bags of work so im not sure why i took it/him on ,he was quite a good talker/railroader on the phone . after i finished the gutters he then asked to become a regular for his windows so alls well that ends well

not worth the hassel, new gutters for what it costs

put a price in for replacing them for new. or paint them with a black gloss hammerite paint. does work do this on mine.
