i own a window cleaning company unfortunately my name window clean direct works quite well but im thinkin of going into domestic cleaning which my partner could get involved with eventually as we have just had baby in december, but for now i dont really want to open a new business do you think it will put people off using a window cleaning firm for there domestic house cleaning
or if any one knows another way around it with out going limited with using a different business name to front it but put accounts thru the one business

I was originally block & drive cleaning services but as things moved on we used BD cleaning services. With the bouncy castles we opted for big day bouncy castles so everything can go in the same account with cheques made out to BDCS. What about clean direct or something similar

Its a death sentance in the summer because you have to work every day ;D ;D

Do you have an accountant?
From what THINK I know, it would make more sense financially to have a different business for each thing you do.
This tax year you can now earn £7,475 before you pay any tax.
So maybe if you have 3 businesses earning exactly that you could earn £22,425 per annum and pay 0 tax.
Congrats on the bouncy castle business, you have loads of 'stock' so I imagine you are doing very well :)

ste - tax is per person no matter how many business you own. Something like this would best going LTD and the company paying corp tax, then dividends to the directors.

I did bouncy castles some years ago, did ok for a while but then didn't re-invest (poor business decision). First ever one we rented - a group of uninvited lads came and apparently stabbed it (Keighley) and once lent one to a mate for nowt (and I'm a Yorkshireman) and his son did a flip and ended up in hospital- "no good deed goes unpunished!". All power to those that do it but I did worry a bit after that in spite of my insurance. I try to stick to non kiddie business activities nowadays cos' they're a liability, great when the kids were growing up though........ Sorry I do digress isn't this a cleaning forum. Back to the question I believe that most people mentally group window cleaners with domestic cleaners so the transition should be an easy one but I personally prefer the title: cleaning services. I think most of us on here appreciate the complexities involved in the many aspects of cleaning which is why we seek the advice of others but I truly don't believe most of the General pubic do.

You can surely use window cleaning name for domestic cleaning service or you can either slightly change the business name with "domestic cleaning services". If you use new name for your business then you might loose your previous name's brand value. Many business owner offer many other services with only one service specific business name. We offer all about foundation repair (http://www.basementfoundationwallcrackrepair.com) services with the brand name not stating this service as "Basement Foundation Wall Crack Repair (http://www.basementfoundationwallcrackrepair.com)"
Cheers!
