ended up using microsplitters and must say wasnt happy with the results. gotta get some power burst me thinks. Customer was happy enough and gave a ten pound tip too ;).The job did take longer than expected to but thats just down to my organisation which will get better over time.hay ho ::)

£10 tip on a £70 job, don't get used to that!! I did a job last Saturday morning for £196, customer paid in cash and gave me....£196! Nice enough though for a Saturday morning. Best of luck for the future though.

Don't waste your money on stocking your van out with lots of different chems, you don't need them despite what some might say on here.
Maybe if you had hit it hard with a high ph powder or pre-spray ie F90, powerburst, top grade (craftex), let it dwell for about 15 mins then extracted you would have got a better result.
Good luck next time.

That wat my problem was a good prespray.Used microsplitters.Could have done with something stronger.Struggled with wear marks in front of sofa but did say i might.Showed her the muck in the waist and the dog hairs in the filter(the dog died 8 years ago) and she was more than happy ;D
cheers again for the replies

What did you use to agitate the microsplitters?

If it was an all man-made fibre and it hasn't been cleaned for a very long time or not at all, then the dirt & grit will wear away at the fibres (particuly in traffic areas) and over time the fibres may loose colour. This will become more evident after the cleaning process. You need to explain to the custy that that may occur.

I'm just using a manual brush. Bloody hard work.Don't think the carpet had ever been cleaned.I think I defo should have used a stronger pre spray. Not a problem, learned alot from the job so I'm happy :)

If you aren't getting the required results with M/S, "Soluboost" is good at giving it a kick.... It's important that M/S is mechanically agitated and given a good dwell time.
Eventually you will have your old faithful chemicals that you can always rely on, but we all have our favourites.... :)

"First paying customer" but then you're blaming products ??? With respect, can you really question the ability of certain products at this stage in your career?
Experience is the key, and you can't be knocked for not having it because we all have to start somewhere :)
I think the most important thing is always trying to improve yourself and follow best practice, which results in experience. When you're experienced you know exactly what result to expect from every single carpet you clean. So don't beat yourself up, it might have just been one of those that wouldn't have got much better.

....or bad wanding technique ::)
-
prespray with multi pro, extract with fibre & fabric rinse both pro chem products .you will get a great result 99% of the time. Not convinced with this micro splitter shi ;D

Didn't rate Multi Pro.
The only 3 I use now are Powerburst - MP - HD.
MP boosted with a touch of Soluboost.
If the carpets are in decent nick I'll just mix one
scoop to 5 litres MP, seems to bring back the
brightness of the colours.

Does Powerburst deal with "proper" grease (e.g. engine oil type rather than say, restaurant grease)?
John,
When would you use powerburst rather than HD?
-
Have heard from a few ppl that powerburst is top.
Theres a supplyer in warwick, will be popping over at the weekend to get some.
All greatly appreciated lads ;D
