Title: di resin exchange
Post by: anderclean on April 15, 2011, 08:41:50 pm
guys
any tips or recommendations for changing your resin,

i mean - what do you do with
the old ?
and how do you refill your di vessels ?

i've got two 15 litre vessels and it always seems to take me ages and makes a right mess !

thanks...

There's a good youtube vid which shows you how to do it, but I couldn't find it; maybe you can?

Basically, fill your DI vessel about quarter full of water, and using a scoop cut out of a small coke bottle (it's a nice size) fill your vessel.  When it's looking full, add a bit more water to soften and compact the resin; add more resin, add a little more water.  Keep going till it's full and because there's water already mixed with the resin, it makes it easier to put the lid on the vessel on.

mine goes to landfill from my bin, anyway I just empty it then I have a great funnel that fits exactly into the hole and has a big wide filling area, I got it from daqua but I can't see it on his site. and I use a food scoop that you get in a pet shop for scooping dry food and the like, and I fill it up to the neck, then fill with water and fit it back in, very little mess and really quick, an alternative to the funnel is a down pipe hopper I think they are called from B&Q and the like, just make sure it fits in the hole
