I've resorted to actually reading the instructions that came with my flow controller and it says the following:
"For absolute safety always wife through the pump pressure switch."
Now where on a shurflow pump is the pump pressure switch?
-
its the bit at the top i think, that has two wires going in to it
-
read the info ,u disconnect both wires from the top ,u r left with 2 wires coming out of bottom ,the other one u can chuck

My controller instructions told me to disconnect the sureflow pressure switch! (can't think what make of controller I've got, and it's dark outside)

Thanks, D F,
And I connect the varistream to the wires that come out of the bottom of the pump; yes?

Is this correct?

yes mate, but I can't advise on what next as I chucked my varistream ages ago

I've got the rest, mate, it's quite simple now. Two long wires to the shurflow and the two shorter wires (the one with the fuse) to the battery. It's not complicated when you know, eh? ;D
Thanks guys; it is simpler than it at first looks. I've seen sent a load of snap on connectors that I need to have a play with to see how they work, but I think they're going to be simple too.
The flow controller that has the split charge relay will be a bit more complicated, because I don't know how to run the wires that connect the van battery to the battery that will power my pumps. But I'm sure I'll work that one out.
I've just had a long day of fannying about, and now I'm a bit brain dead.

are u running off of van battery or leisure batt

Oh, one last question (for now), does it matter which way up I fit the pump? I'm assuming it has to face black plastic side DOWN (pointing towards the ground)? Or doesn't it matter?
-
just make sure the water flows with the arrow ,sounds silly but mistakes happen

lots give that advice but I have them the other way and have no problem, they will work anyway you fit them

Cheers, Stu.
I now think I have all the knowledge I need to set up my DIY system.
;D

The pressure switch goes at the bottom Tosh.

The pressure switch goes at the bottom Tosh.
why? in three in a bit years mine have been at the top
-
Mine are fitted at the bottom. It's because you're in Scotland that they're on the top. As Tosh is in Wales his will Aldo have to be at the bottom. If he was in Ireland they would have to be at the top like yours ;0)

;D ;D makes sense ;D right now mine is lying flat so neither top or bottom, in the back of a panda and it is still working fine ;)

Were the zoo with what you did to the panda?

I neva touched that Panda. It was all a mix up! I swear I didn't do anything to it; I don't even fancy pandas, they're not my type.

dont throw away the pressure switch tosh like said above.cause you need the casing its in some time which are quite dear to buy,the switch itself inside is about £1.50 worth.

To change the subject slightly, you got the same fone as me Tosh :D

Shurflo recommend that the motor should be mounted with pump motor at the top and the pump's water connections at the bottom. The reason they say is that should there be a water leak it won't compromise the electrics. This means the redundant pressure switch would be at the bottom.
In the early days Peter Fogwill mounted the Shurflo pump the other way round.
Did you get strainers with the pumps Tosh?

I forgot to order any, but Cleaning Warehouse (not WCW) kindly dropped one in, which is why I haven't made a big fuss and whine about the delay in delivery to me! ;D
I guess I just need the one, which I'll position exiting the tank just prior to splitting the hose to go to separate pumps.
Thanks though, I like these questions; it keeps me doing things right.
