Hi all,
After a very succesful water restoration course a couple of months ago, i'm now on a fire and smoke restoration course at the flood school!
I had a very interesting chat today to a loss adjuster! He was very interested in my services and wondered if i could do fire and smoke restoration as he's stuck for this! So on the off chance i spoke to the flood school and they got a course on 19th/20th April! So off i go again! ;D
Anyone else going?
-
i'm doing the one day drying with heat later in the year will but the fire course can wait a few years.
-
Will there be much work for a small business? Going up against the likes of Chem Dry and Rainbow...
What is the duration of the course?
Wish you the best of luck with your course. :)

Steve,
I'm not a one man band! I employ 100 staff! ;) After my chat with the loss adjuster today he explained to me that he doesn't like Rainbow, Chemdry etc
-
Steven you re worded your post you sod! lol ;D

May i ask why he don't like them? Bad service or something?
-
He said to me that generally in the past he's had poor service from them and they don't always do what they say they'll do! I'm not saying all of the rainbow/chemdry franchisee's are like this as i've had no personal experience this is just his experience of them! But after we had a chat today i feel theres an opportunity to be had here! I have to forward my contact details to him!

Like you say, it depends upon the franchise. Some are very very good with the best possible equipment to hand.
-
More like he doesn't like paying the industry prices, so he's thinking he'll get a new guy screwed down to slave wages.
Billy with the utmost respect mate anyone can suck water off a floor and chuck in a dehum, hence the reason why a large part of water damage in recent years has been steered towards building companies instead of the specialist franchises.
The problem is, insurance companies don't really understand how much it actually costs to run a restoration business. Therefore they seek bargain basement prices, which is what he'll expect.
I'd love to be proved wrong though, so sincerely hope this comes off for you :)

Never stop learning Billy!
Good luck to ya.

Exactly! got it in one Jim!
The prices are already a little low, and the insurance companys do not offer enough for the amount of work carried out. It's not quite the money spinner people think it is.

Hi Jim,
Totally see your point! but i have no intensions of going into a job at rock bottom prices! I will go into a job for what i feel it's worth! Might be cheaper than some and might be more than others! All i know is i have a chance to get my foot in the door! and if it doesn't work out or i feel it's not for me at this time then i've lost very little! sorry if that sounded sharp, it wasn't meant to, it's just i hate this typing lark! ;D Just to add, i've worked with this loss adjuster in the past on other big projects back in 2007! If anyone is interested in knowing anything else please don't hesitate on giving me a call 07538 089693! I really do hate typing out these reply's! Sorry but thats just me! ;) ;D

How were every one else's results from the flood course I passed hope everyone else was successful. A lot of negative things are said about flood restoration but there is work out there the franchises do not have it all sown up and you do not have to work for bargain basement prices. You do have to be possitive aboujt the services you are selling and do something about it, there are a lot of opportunities but if you are negative about it you will not get anywhere.
