Title: Ah - what a gimp I am - website help please...
Post by: Tom White on April 06, 2011, 05:00:15 pm
Ages ago, maybe even about two years ago I started creating a website and never got around to finishing it.  Anyway, I received a call from a lady from a posh house in a posh place and she mentioned something about a website and not being able to get my landline number.

Anyway, I had a google and on the first page (somehow) my website is there:

http://abcchepstowwindowcleaning.co.uk/default.aspx

But I've got silly/random photos of us in the About Us page.  I can't believe this potential customer may have see the pictures!!!

Now, this is the problem.  I can't remember how to get into the site to change my details and update the site, and not only that, my e-mail address that I would've used when I created the site I haven't got access too.

Can anyone advise me how I can either get details so I can log in to change my website, or just get the thing removed off the interweb!

I am an idiot!
 ;D

You're right.  You really shouldn't have done that.

Useful to have your mobile number too.  Is it still working?

tosh at the bottom there is a link to microsoft free websites, if you click on it there is a register or sign in, it asks for your microsoft id though, and there is a help centre on there as well

I've e-mailed some sort of help desk; hopefully they'll be able to sort me out.

I'm seeing this posh lady tomorrow; the thing is she mentioned that my landline number; the last three digits were "XXX" and I remember doing that when I set up the site; but like a lot of things, I start and don't finish!

But I'll get it finished/changed/updated if I can get access to the ruddy thing!  ;D

Brilliant!! I nearly wet myself when I saw that!!  ;D I would leave it on there mate, a lot of people want their window cleaner to be a bit of a character, and not some uniformed clone!!!

Could the "posh lady" call not be a wind up?
It could be someone (who has your number) winding you up. It might be one of your mates, like Limahl.

hahahahaahahahaha................. I'm hoping the famous 'Worr Lass' is the photo on the right and not the one on your shoulders!
On a serious note..are the photos of conservatory before/after photos your work? The reason I'm asking is because I have the same photos on my site. I put a request a while ago on CIU for some photos and someone sent them to me but dont think it was you that replied. Do you mind if I use them if they are yours?

I went to quote for it this morning; a big place - it's an old Court that is also an equestrian centre (summat to do with horses), and there's a annex and I've yet to quote for some large detached properties that're family to this lady.

So quite a nice job and some more in the pipeline.

I mentioned the website and explained why, and my customer laughed, 'cos she had seen the pictures. :-[

Her ex husband was ex army, (probably an oriface), and she says she's worked with the military, so she was okay with that.
