now the better weather is here, im looking to get some new foot wear for work.
thinking of something a bit more light weight and not so 'clunky' for the drier summer months ....
prob go down go outdoors but just wanted to see if anyone has bought any lately??
and
NO! im not buying that load of crap from sports direct!

I like trainers for Summer months, and army issue boots for Winter months.

Are you sure, or are you guessing? There's not much difference in protection in real terms between my army boots and my training shoes. If a bus ran over either with my toes in them, they'd still hurt.
Are you suggesting we need BS steel toe caps for window cleaning?
And there is a government H&S document about ladder use that I've read which specifically stated that suitable footwear is something where the user can feel the position of the rung, and that training shoes were okay.

wasnt being funny, have a few commercial places that will throw you off site if working in wrong footwear, once had the blue steal toe capped cat daps and they said no they are trainers and not save with the fork lifts around ...
i might get two pairs - go outdoors have some half price saloman & north face running or walking shoes on sale today

Yes, there's a lot of fork lift trucks around Chepstow this time of year.
Okay, I get your point, for certain niche jobs then specialised safety footwear would be important.
But for general run-of-the-mill window cleaning, anything with a decent grip on wet surfaces (as best possible) is safe; I would think.

You did well! I'm jealous I got my karrimors for £40 from them last year and they are superb - I use them for hillwalking as well. They are light for a boot and heavier than a trainer. Perfect for window cleaning.

I just bought some Black 'The North Face - Goretex trainers from GO outdoors in Swindow last Thursday. Very cheap at the moment. Reduced from £90 to £45 with the GO outdoors discount card (discount card cost £5).
The only thing is, I thought Goretex are supposed to be 100% waterproof. I did a commercial property on Friday morning and sprayed my my new trainers with the water for about 5 seconds and some water got in. Not alot though but still disappointed. ???
I've got some British Army Goretex boots and you could go swimming in them and still have dry feet!!!

Yeah mine are the SAKURA GTX. I should clarify, If you have the discount card already the trainers are £40.
I went onto the Swindon Outlet store and got some Timberland Aqua trainers (the type you wear in the stream or boating with all of the drainage holes). Ideal for the hot days. They were reduced from £75 to £10 but just as I was trying them on a bloke came and stripped all of the shelves of all of the discounted shoes. I presume he is going to stick them on E-bay and make a killing!!

anything goretex(boots or trainers)they keep your feet dry and let them "breathe".
it rains in summer as well lads! ;) ;D ;D

Currently wearing karrimore boots and they are rubbish, I was wearing army issued boots until they wore out, although I still have desert boots that are ok for the summer, I think they are made by hitec

I'm sure to go diffy these boots was quite expensive; about £90 so you're happy to wear de-kit boots (which I would be), then these would do the job for Winter.

I only paid £20 for mine and yes your right theyre great.
