As per the post title, has anyone tried DIY van signage from sites like this:
http://www.signsandshirts.co.uk/diy.html
What did you think of it? And does it last?
-
I use magnetic signs.
I think you can go overboard with van wrap and stuff.
Simple magnetic or signwritten writing saying what you do and how to get hold of you is about right IMO.
-
The only thing I would worry about is getting it "wonky" or bubbles under it..
Got mine booked in on Saturday with the pro's
-
alot use signbuilder
ive had a look at signsright.
pick the magnetic section, just to have a play with the software, they have much better templates to use than signbuilder
-
Are the magnetic signs any good? I had some for my car when I first started window cleaning and I didn't like 'em. They slipped about in the end and were often skew-wiff. I'm pretty good with my hands, with this sort of thing (well I can wallpaper anyway), so I fancy the stick on stuff.
-
not hard to put it on.
harder to get the design right tho!
-
its easy make sure you wet them with soapy water as long as you have a good eye no probs mate better with two people doing it
-
my dispatch cost £160
-
I've used vistaprint twice now. (And for cards) First signs shredded after two years but so cheap who cares? Second lot are fine after two years. Just don't tick any "extra" boxes.

That was expensive for a DIY job; you can get it for about £100 on that link I put up.
(Only joking)
Where did you get it done, RZ; it appears Gav seems to think I should get it done professhonily.
-
If you shop around you will get it done by a pro for around the same price

a company in lydney called image steve. 01594 845388

I used signbuilder and if you take your time and use masking tape to measure out and get your lines straight it is very easy to do, it took me 2 weeks to do the design though!

You're brilliant; really!

Ive had magnetics for a couple of years Tosh, but they trap the dirt under them and get little rust spots :o.
Getting mine sign written on Saturday for £180
-
ive got magnetic signs as well from signbuilders.i think there great.nice and big and i designed them myself.cost me £98 with vat and delivery but they do the job!
im planning on getting another van next year so they ll do until then.
are they not a pain to take off when you get them done professionally when you come to sell your van on?

I cant believe how many people talk about magnetic signs ! They look rubbish and they give out a signal that they are fly by night operation ( because the signs can always come off and on to the next project ) !
Sorry to sound harsh but most people buy on impulse and a good sign written van says a lot about your business. . . . . . pro or fly by night !

Hopefully this works Tosh

The pics on signbuilder are much bigger and clearer, you also get the bonnet graphics as well. I have window cleaner in capitals as large as i could get to fit, it says under the cab windows "ask driver for a free quote" I take my springer to work with me everyday and it makes people laugh when they see her sitting behind the steering wheel ;D

Ish; thanks. I've read a few back posts and the DIY signbuilders gets a good write up from members who've done it themselves. It seems like you spray this stuff on your van and you can manoeuvre the sign to the correct position; it's not like where ever it first goes, it sticks.
And the pics the guys have stuck up; you wouldn't know the difference between the DIY and the professionally done van wraps.
So I'm going to do it myself. But I'll keep it simple. ;D

Tosh it comes with instructions and a special spray with a plastic squeegey, make sure the paintwork is clean, measure up (i used masking tape and a pencil), measure again, then spray and apply. its very satisfying and once youve got the first sticker on you will be sorted and youll be a pro by the time its finished!
Use more than one colour as the price is the same and it stands out well, i went for red and blue and it stands out well on a white van.
Good luck and put some pics up when its done!

Cheers, I will! ;D
