Hi all,  have a customer who has spilt approx 2 litres of unused engine oil in the boot of his car.
It has run right down to the tyre well and through to the rear seats aswell. The smell in the car is also very strong.
I have succesfully removed oil before but not nearly as much as this.
I previosly used solvall & terry toweld before rinsing.
What do you think is the best way to approach this level of staining?

I was thinking of using hot ultrapac or powerburst over the whole area, boot, seats etc dwell for 10-15 mins, hot acid rinse with craftex deodoriser. Would this work well?
I also have some citrus gel and solvex but I dont think This would work well on staining this large.
Any ideas?

I would remove the carpets and pressure wash them.  I would use one of my smoke clean up chemicals to clean the other components.

2 litres is heck of a lot of oil.

As it got to the actual seats, it makes the job that more difficult.

Not something I would take on quickly unless he had a very deep pocket to pay for the time etc.
And I think your hoses and machine may be a bit of a mess for a while.

I started valeting cars and came across this quite regularley. Only way to deal with it is as has been said. All capets need to come out of the boot and you have to investigate how far its travelled into the cab. Any oil left in and not dealt with with permeate the car for ever with odour. There is no other way.

Might be far cheaper and less hassle to get new carpets in the car.

Remove affected carpets, seats and anything else absorbent, clean remaining hard surfaces then get replacement seats and carpet from local vehicle breakers.

Customer can do it themselves, will be much cheaper.  I would run a mile from a job like this, chances of 100% success are slim and I don't need the hassle!

Sprinkle an absorbent compound such as baking soda or cornstarch into the stain, wait approximately 10 to 15 minutes and then vacuum thoroughly.
