Title: Pro Chem Two DAy, Or, NCCA?

Both pretty much the same price.
Should I attend the NCCA or Prochem?

I'm still machineless by the way, still low paid, still not self employed.
No one has come up with a cheap 2nd hand reliable machine (under a £1000) to buy and start my own carpet cleaning empire. Its like you guys don't want some serious competition or something.

Someone take pity on me?
I've even offered free labour on this site and no one wants it!

I NEED A GOOD MACHINE, IN THE WHOLE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY OF OURS!! THERE MUST BE A MACHINE FOR ME!!
SHOW ME THE MACHINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't be looking too hard for a second hand machine ::)  2 have come up for sale in  the last couple of days on the CCLLEANNPROS SIte and the cleantalk site.

Ebay has 2 or 3

If you can afford to in my opinion you should do both, preferbly the prochem training first,this will give you a very good understanding of practical carpet and upholstery cleaning with no exam at the end of the course.Then take the NCCA course which is mainly therory based with a multiple choice exam at the end,, you will already have had the excellent training that prochem provided, which will help a great deal .To get treatment risk insurance, you will find that you will need to be qualified in carpet and upholstrey cleaning ,in which passing the NCCA exam  will provide you with

Having done both I couldnt agree more with Mark Lane.  prochem is better for practical learning while the NCCA and IICRC are better for theory learning.

I have read the Prochem manual (1day) and attended the recent NCCA 2 day course.
 I must say that in terms of the manuals, the NCCA have excelled in writing a fine piece of literature.  It covers alot more that the prochem manual (but it was a 2 day vs 1 day) so in terms of referance material the NCCA is better in my mind.

I agree with the others in terms of the NCCA course being more theory based, it was spit 90:10 thoery to practical.  However, there are machines that you are encouraged to play with outside of the core hours of the course.  i.e. when everyone else is eating dinner or at the bar.  So you can get alot more practical experience if you request it.

One of the key reasons we chose to attend the NCCA course was to have an unbiased opinon on machines and chemicals.  In this regard, i would expect prochem to only teach you how to use their machines and chemicals.  Indeed, the NCCA gave a very objective and unbiased opinion on what chemicals and equipment to use on any given situation.  In my mind that has more value than only understanding prochem product/machines.

Paul (the trainer) was also quite funny and both of us at ACS really enjoyed the course.
