Just had a call from a lady who desperately want a carpet cleaning.
Shes had a go with a Rug Doctor and made a right mess, carpet still dirty, wet and patchy and stains not gone.
Going to do job tomrrow afternoon - any tips on best plan to do this carpet?
Presume its full of soap ect ect, should I rinse out first before pre spraying.

Hi
I would lift the carpet up & see it the under lay is wet, if so you will need a plan to dry it out after you have cleaned the carpet.
The carpet will be full of detergent which in my opionion will not all come out with one clean, depending on how much was used of course.

I would be tempted to extract, pre-spray and acid rinse. As long as you have enough de-foamer in your waste tank, foam won't be a problem.
I would explain first though that the carpet may already be damaged and could possibly de-laminate over time. Also explain that it might need a second clean in the near future.
I've had a run of "Rug Doctor Wrecked" carpets lately.... ???

change the appointment to next week, give it time to dry out properly then tackle it as you would any other carpet, make sure to use de foamer. You have probably cleaned loads of carpets already after someone has tried to clean them thereselves and you have not even known about it mate.

Do you know, I have cleaned a few "The Rug Doc Waz ere" carpets in the past, But i never found any foam problems when extracting. I mean there's chems are total pants, but doesn't seem to be high foam.
I guess you can leave carpets with a high PH and loads of stick residue but without the foam build up.
Spotters like vanish, 1001 etc thats a different story! Had a right nasty one this week that caught me by suprise! Baaastard!

Let us know how you got on.
I had one a couple of months ago. I think the brushes on the rugdoctor must have been fitted incorrectly as it left railway tracks all over. I explained that the pile had been disturbed (possibly permenantly). I cleaned it north-south and east-west. I didn't end up with a chess board, it did improve but some of the tracks remained.

Persuaded the customer to let the carpet dry out completely and doing it next Thursday.Went yesterday and it was wet through 2 days after cleaning with the RDoc.
She said she spent a full morning doing it and was most upset and annoyed with the result.
To make matters worse shes got a large Vanish stain on the carpet after using that stuff.
Give her a warning about using Rug Doctors and Vanish ;D

Put a bar of soap in your waste tank and it will slow down the foaming (used to do this 20 odd years ago alzheimer's hasn't set in yet ;D)
