Window cleaning related inasmuch as we all use computer printers for leaflets, payment slips etc.
Anyone use a Continuous Ink system for their printer? As in refilling their ink cartridges from a large reservoir.
And what new printer should I go for to enable me to use a CIS? Is there much lead time between the CIS being available on a current model printer?

I bought a CIS.
I still have the bright blue marks on my carpet as a reminder.
I spend 2 hours trying to make it work, followed the instrutions to the letter, (even though they were so pooly translated they were almost gobbledegook)
the distributor sent me further instructions will still did not work. I got ink all over my desk,carpet and myself.
In the end I sent it back an got a refund.
my verdict.

Sounds like you may be better going paper free.
You boys must be turning over a packet if you need a cis.
I still have the original cartridge that came with the printer two yrs ago..... :D Though in my defence I try to keep it paper free as much as possible.

Get yourself an Epson. Buy it from Argos & buy the 3 year no quibble guarantee too, it's approx £11.
But first check www.iconuk.co.uk to make sure you can get compatible cartridges for a particular model.
I have a SX-215 all in one & can get a full set of inks for £5. They work perfect too. ;)
Look in your local paper, it'll be full of Lexmark & HP printers for sale every week! People buy them not realising just how much new ink costs for them!

I currently have Epsom sx405 very happy with it as I have printed shed loads of leaflets. i am thinking of going Csi but still just looking around.I buy cartages from Delcom Computers and find it economical take a look on the Web.

I'm told by a credible source that is not true, just a ploy to get you to buy epson branded ink.
But anyway, I stated to buy from Argos & also buy their extended warranty, why? because for three years if anything, anything at all goes wrong you just take it back & they swap it right away, NO quibble. ;)
We buy the extended warranty on most electrical items from Argos now. We have a mini oven & get a new one every year for free! ;)

yes he is correct, totally wrong your warranty void if compatibles used. it is only void if they can prove it was the compatible cartridge that damaged it. Epsom cartridges are only a tank with a chip to tell the printer the cartridge is new when first installed and has an id so the printer can recall how much of the cartridge was used if taken out and put back in. the printer Can remember up to 8 cartridge changes.
CIS systems are ok but the printer goes through more cleaning cycles than with individual cartridges. you also get more waste going through to the internal waste soaker, after a lot of use this can overflow due to getting clogged with dry ink.
Epsom printers are better if you use them regularly, if you leave them for to long without printing the ink especially non genuine ink drys in the print nozzles and starts to block them this is due to Epsom ( and some others) using a piezoelectric DOD system so they can only use glycol and water as a base and not alcohol or ketone's like continuous systems
i just got rid of it all and went over to colour laser, OK £250 per Toner set but thats a lot of printing and I only go through two sets a year plus an additional couple of black, the mono lasers I also use that costs £78 per toner but @ 50000 page capacity it lasts a while.
if you use laser and thinking of refilling your own toners be carefully. modern toner is a micro polymer and not good for your health.
