If you think the new Xtreme is the lightest pole on the market then think again! The Aerolite is coming on Friday and it is 22% lighter than the Xtreme.
Here's the article in the local paper:- (Sorry don't know how to scan it)
If you thought that ladderless window cleaning was the "new kid on the block" then prepare to be amazed by the Aerolite pole. No more Popeye-esque grunting and groaning from your window cleaner as his whippy pole dangles over your conservatory to get to your hard-to-reach windows.
The Aerolite is made from a new space-age material called unobtanium which changes its molecular structure allowing water to flow through it at a lighter weight the closer it is held to horizontal. This means there is no hose inside the pole, just ultra close tolerance lubricated female couplings for the pole to slide in and out of reducing weight further and increasing operator satisfaction exponentially.
This pole is not cheap! At £800 for a 25ft, four section pole it is only affordable to the most businesslike and serious of window cleaners.
To further reduce weight, the bore of the pole is only 4mm across its inside diameter and so the water is at a pressure of 200 psi and the weight of this water in the pole is only one fifth of that found in standard 6mm pole hose.
The pole is being released in a liason between Bae and Bristol cars who have recently switched from classic cars to this new venture.
Anyone wishing to see a demonstration should attend Filton Aerodrome showing their window cleaning credentials between 10 am and Noon on Friday where it will be shown at work cleaning the windows of Concorde at the static display museum.

Interesting that, Malc.
I`ve heard a little bit about this pole and believe there is an attachment that dries the windows too. I`m not sure what or how it`s done but it could be a massive breakthrough.
It`ll be good to see it in action, especially as I`ve heard Concorde windows do bead and can tend to spot :-\.

Dont know about the poles but does anyone know what the payload is on a Bristol Blenheim 3? I've just put a 600lt unbaffled tank in the back of mine it's great for whizzing around town beats the transit any day ;D

I''ve heard that too Gerry and I think the attachment your refering to is the "Supersonic" which uses sonic waves to speed up drying time.
I wonder if we can get Squeaky, Tosh and Mrs Tosh to come over the bridge - we could meet up for a brekkie at Nez cafe on Southmead Rd and share a car in from there.

unobtanium Thought it was an April fool ;D

LOL... Just looked at the date.... it is an April fool. An early one.

Does the £800 price tag include the Supersonic, or is that extra still?
-
Ive heard that this pole will collapse down as a snooker que too, just fit a Gardiners quick release gadget and fit your snooker tip to the end.
Fantastic piece of kit, and made here in good old Bristol too!

They'll let you know when you turn up on the day - it's built to BS5750 - the exacting standard set by aeronautical engineers for the British space program.
I'm turning up with my dosh in my pocket and will walk away with my shiny new light-as-a-feather pole.
Somebody tell Tosh, cuz it's ideal for his missus! - In fact someone should put a new topic up in the Jehovahs Witness ;D errr non-cleaning related topics section to catch his eye and direct him to this thread. If I do it he'll ignore me.
