Title: First clean versus One off clean.
Post by: geefree on March 26, 2011, 09:32:09 pm
Hi all ,

Just wondering what your prices are are for a first clean ?

Do you charge double or a little extra?

Or simply charge the normal price and get them on your books?

Also what do you charge for a one off clean compared to a first clean?

Cheers .  ;)

i normally play it by ear. if i think they are going to be a good custy, its the same price, unless there mingin, then it would be double,.
and one offs, dont really do them, if i do its atleast double the normal rate.

i charge the same, gambling they stay on as regulars.   last week i did a true killer, new windows too with cement and crud stains ,took 3 times longer than usual-   luckily she is wanting me back as a regular

if i hear they are moving or  any talk of a 1 off when they originally phone up,i try to conjure up a high price and they usually say theyll think it over and never get in touch

For a first clean my extra charge ranges from zero to +50%.  This depends on a number of factors - some of which are how much I want the job, whether I feel that the customer will be a good, reliable one, if I'm light on work etc.etc.

For a one off same applies except that it ranges from zero to +100%.  If I've run out of work for a several days, someone phones for a one off, and I could do with a bit of cash flow, I might just do it for standard rates and use that as a lever to try to convert it to a regular job.  I have managed to do this in the past and gain good customers from it.  More often than not though, it does remain a one off.

Very well put Mr Coleman!  ;D

very much on the same lines myself - but rarely do 0% unless the windows and frames are in pukka conditon.

so far all 1 off's have added extras like conny roof or gutter cleans attached so it's all added into the price.

Generally:-

One off - at least double regular rate.

First clean - add 50% of regular rate.

Always add a "Minging" tax! Unfair to your regular custies and yourself otherwise!

In my experience someone wanting their windows cleaned that are minging usually are quite happy to live with dirty windows and only want them doing because of some special occassion.
We have had a couple over the years that have become regular, but the majority end with "we will contact you when we need you again." Of those, almost all never have, and, to be honest, I wouldn't loose sleep over them.

If I wasn't busy I may do them again as a one of, but at a high premium, probably double.

first clean is at the normal rate but always now say your signing up for a regular service with a minimum of 3 cleans or they can have a one off at x3 the normal rate

I charge double on first clean now, and that way you do not lose if its a one off,  and you can tell what kind of a customer you are getting when you look at their reaction to paying it  ;D
