Title: Pricing conservatory roofs
Post by: Ian101 on March 25, 2011, 05:18:23 pm
Starting to do more and more of these as put it on my "your windows were cleaned today slip"

never really seen it as a major part of the job so never really thought about the pricing and normally went with 1st thing that popped into my head so could be £10 or £25 depending on how I felt  ;D

however want to get some uniformity into the job so done one today and worked on £2 a panel ... 15 panels so £30 lady hesitated then said yes do it.

How do u price them .... is £2 a roof panel about right do u think ?

we do at least 5 conservatory valets a week - bit more than just a roof clean.

price wise.

how dirty?

how big?

how long (time)?

good & bad access?

one off/regular (say 4 monthly)

thats what you should be looking at.

oh and if its plastic - then a simple cheap fb pole and customers outside will do the job

if clear then above and finish with pure wfp.

no need for a ladder against the conservatory most of the time! a pair of 5 -8 tred steps about 5 - 10 yards away from the conservatory and your wfp does the job.

if really dirty - then tfr, ubik or even silet bang sprayed on, leave for 5 mins, and then go over with the pole.

thanks for reply wc solutions ... was thinking more along lines of a quick wash over with the pole than a full valet .. used to do them but have stopped as no spare time

£2.00 i think this sounds a decent guide line maybe £3 would be better

what i wana know is for this price do we just wfp down the glass or apply tfr can a pro conny roofer cleaner tell us how to master the conny roof cleaning and pricing ;p

I agree, while it's not difficult work, it's standing on a ladder for an hour or two and I charge a minimum of £60. Some guys do them for next to nothing and I can't see the point.

Remember to price it well as it will probably take longer than you think....if your doing the roof you will also do the gutters and the windows so put that into your price too.

I charge £40 minimum and price up £4-£5 per panel depending how dirty/awkward it is. But I am not a fan of doing them so if they say no it makes no odds to me.

Do you clean the edge over the gutter for this (often cacked) ? And then clean the conny gutter where its all splashed and dirty and dripping down the windows?  If the gutters dirty it'll run all down the windows too. They're a pain them jobs on your normal round .I always try and resist any temptation to just give them a quick rinse for a few quid and opt for a full conny clean. Book them in for Saturday mornings, prices starting at £30.

£5 per pannel including external guttering section - £20 for finals - min price £60 - £30+ for the internal gutters cleaned out

Used to set myself a min £40 for the lot - found myself out of pocket really compared to the windows on many, so upped my price

the average conny polycarbon roof with good access thats  pretty green will take roughly 90 mins to clean, set up and pack away.sometimes less.if its bad access with ladders needed can take more like 2 hours.if its a regular clean(say every 3 or 4 months)it can take as little as 20-30 mins.

pricing varies from £15-£20 for a quick maintenance clean on existing window cleaning customers to £50-£80 for dirty one offs.

i try to price both conny roof cleans/fascia/soffit cleans on £40 an hour min.reasons?

1.they take me away from my regular maintenance window cleaning so i market it as "specialist" cleaning! ;) ;D

2.they can be a pain to clean and knock you off your stride and are generally harder work than normal window cleaning.

what i do to customers who ask for a conny clean/fascia/soffit/clean i book them in next time i clean their windows and usually cram it in between my normal schedule later on in the day.that way the windows get cleaned straight after the clean.

a couple of add on jobs a week during the spring/summer months can really boost your income!

i have noticed a few old gardeners near me who clean some of their customers conservatory roofs.last one charged a tenner!it was green with no fall on the roof hardly!he s welcome to them at that price!! ;D ;D

ok then @ £2 a panel looks like Im on the cheap side.

Will up it to £3 a panel for just a straight wipe with the pole and purified.

TFR does it great but think it will add time onto job if just the pole and purified will suffice.

Agree with others for a full valet with tfr / ladders out etc then u need to charge min of £80

One thing I did learn last year when I was doing a few full valets to fill in the blank days was to connect pole to outside tap when using TFR on a full valet then just use purified for final rinse ... only had a 25L p.freedom trolley last year so helped job along no end.

thanks for input fellas .... still learning from the forum  :D
