I was wondering why chemical companies are reluctant to send free samples?
I see chemicals on this forum which get mentioned time and time again.I would like to try these various chemicals,
for instance Powerburst comes in the large drums ( 4 litres i think ? ) the price is nearly £30 00 with the vat.
Surely the companies would benefit long term by free samples? or perhaps a small postage charge.
I mainly use prochem (my garage looks like a show room ) but i know if i tried something better i would buy it forever!
I understand things are very tight at the moment but long term surely its a winner ?
If i got a sample of an expensive chemical that worked i would buy it,but i dont want to spend £30 00 for instance on something that does not.

Whilst I understand where you are coming from, would you be happy to give a free demonstration of your services to every request that comes in with the chance that none of them will convert? It would be time consuming and non cost effective :)

Gary,
we have the next best thing, people on the forum that have actually tried alot of these chemicals, from
all the positive comments and good reviews about powerburst it takes the gamble out of buying it and
it not working,
Just buy some its not going to disappoint you,

Suppliers should send out free samples it would be good for business, especially the spotters so many spotters get mentioned but so may are made that the only way i am going to try something different is if i get the first one free, if it works then i would definatley buy more. it would only require a small sample to test.

Helen, i offer demo's if they would like one! Especially commercial! but i also do domestic demo's! If they like the results you will convert to a sale! I'm not going to do a whole room for them but i will do a patch and they are aware of the price of the cleaning before i'd do a demo! Sometimes it's that demo that that clinchs it! and before anyone asks i do not charge £ 8.99 for 2 rooms! ;D I only have to do that demo once and generally i have a customer for life! nothing wrong with that!

Im with Billy on this one!! A great clincher ;D
Im sure the samples could come in a sachet enough for one trial and a customer for life

i think the issue is that most chemical suppliers are simply that suppliers of chems not manufacturers for them to be able to send out samples they would prob have to have the manufacturer produce samples in the correct packaging and then send out at their expense unfare imo . i know chemspec do this on some of there products but not sure about any others. nick at solutions does a trial size pack or he did which you can buy.
IMO i cant see the point in a trial pack as you need to try something on more than one job to determine results . and at the end of the day most chems are not too expensive
also its so easy to get bogged down with too much find a couple of pre sprays you can work with witht he desired results and stick with it. i think i carry 3 carpet pre sprays and 2 upholstery thats all

hello Helen whilst i see where your coming from, there is a big difference from going to an address, setting up,doing a demo spending half an hour talking about it ,loading the van travelling time and petrol.
as opposed to some one posting a sample with a massive chance of a repeat order!
I think they are missing a cheap piece of marketing. If i then come on here raving about it im sure people on here would be interested.
nb I would give a demo if asked by the way

i think it would be a good idea if they offered a free sample of any new chemical (or existing) if you ordered it as part of a larger paid for order...
Eg; I ordered some stuff from restormate today and spent £220. It would be a good idea if for every £100 you spent you could have a free trail sample of anything else they stock, they already are sorting out an order and have to deliver it.... so it would'nt cost any more to send a free sample, apart from the repackage of the sample.
this would encourage future sales and perhaps make people order more to hit the free sample limit.
this is not a suggestion for RestorMate, I use them as an example only because i ordered some of their excelent, value for money chemicals today ;)

We have sent out free samples in the past of new products we have sourced. I must have sent 50 samples of Nemesis out when we first got it. However most of our stock is of tried and tested products. Problem is if we start opening things to take samples out of we would end up with loads of half empty containers of product we can't sell or use. Also its time consuming and we are pushed as it is most of the time getting orders processed and packaged in time for the couriers to arrive.
On a personal note when I was cleaning full time I had lots of samples either in the form of small packets of powder or small bottles of liquid lying around the unit or van, they rarely if ever got used and were usually just thrown away. As Richard says I prefered to just buy a product and use it on a number of jobs to get a proper feel to what it was capable of.

Its down to the manufacturers to give out samples not the distributors because as JK says, he cant keep opening tubs and bottles of stuff to send out as his margin will suffer too much.
Prochem used to be good for this and I know that Pureclean sales rocketed as a result of samples given out at old CCDOs (and other shows they did I'm sure) and the feedback it got on here.
Sadly, Mktg is not a speciality of Co's like these and they miss a trick on this basis. A free sample given out at an event (with some demo or proper literature attached) that is attended by many on here (whatever the event) is priceless marketing for such obvious reasons I really dont need to list them. ::)

Imagine if you went out and cleaned free of charge the hallway of every single customer who phone you up for a price....................................

Didn't Solutions offer a sample pack which you paid for and people moaned because they were charged for it,companies cannot sustain offering free samples in these hard times for everyone
-
Extracta used to send out samples. Alltec has or used to have a sample of Ultimate Master. Kept me going for a few months until they noticed had acquired several ;D (not really Robert just in case you are looking)
i remember Nick at Solutions Uk sent out some very generous samples when it first started. I got mine for Free
But the Carriage cost is high .
I wonder if many actually recipricated.
