Title: cleaning computer server room
Post by: Adam P on March 24, 2011, 12:28:55 am
would like to get some advise on this as never had to do it before. been asked to keep a server room clean once a month with rest of office cleaning we would do once a week. was mentioned just vacuum and dusting but wanted to check how safe vacuuming an important server room is and if there is anything we need to know first?

vacuuming will be fine but use dry microfibre for dust. Also try using tak cloths as these are sticky and the dust will stick to them. Used to keep a dust free environment. The servers are usually inside glass cages which protect them. Have done quite a few like this.

If you have to do the walls, wrap the tak cloth around dry flat mop system and just wipe the walls down.

Check with the customer what sockets you can use as they should be labelled (normally cleaners and be on a different circuit)  ;)
