Title: Starting domestic window cleaning round
Post by: caroleroberts on March 22, 2011, 11:22:40 am
Hi,
I run a commercial cleaning company and my daughter would like to work with me but starting with a domestic window cleaning round. She has done some window cleaning - traditional and WFP. We have been told that a hot wash WFP system is better and quicker but not sure if it justifys the cost. Would it be better for her to start with a basic tank and poles, which we have at present,or go for a branded system  and hot or cold? We thought about a van and two people to start - after canvassing to find the work of course!! What sort of money should she expect to make per day - I've been told about £500 turnover with 2 people and a hot wash WFP system, working 8 hrs - is this realistic?

Regards

Carole

3 - 5 houses an hour is a very rough idea of what you could do, only the average size houses mind.

costing £7 - £12 say .... you do the maths

Judging by your post I'm guessing that you have had a demo from ionics?

"hot is better" "£500 turnover per day"

am I right?

Stick to your homemade system until you have the work to justify spending on a "branded" system. As long as you can produce 000 water then all systems can earn the same, be it a £12k branded system or a cheap self made set up.

£500 a day on big commercial is possible but you would have to remove the big boys like mitie ....

so basically £500 can be done in a day on big jobs but you would never get that sort of work for every day!

houses then £200 - £300 is a very good day for 2 wcs

£300 a day max on domestic in my experience even that's a bit of a slog. I target £250 but I'm happy with that

I HAVE A HEAT WAVE GREAT BIT OF KIT BUT AS YOU ARE STARTING OUT USE COLD WATER KEEP THE COST TO A MINIMUM ,AS FOR £500 A DAY I DOUBT IT VERY MUCH UNLESS IT IS ALL COMMERCIAL   ,IN MY EXPERIENCE I WOULD NOT GET NO LESS THAN A 650 TANK AS IF YOU GET BUSY YOU WILL REGRET GETTING A SMALLER ONE ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE 2 PEOPLE
                                    GOOD LUCK

Hi all,
Thanks for your comments. Thought it sounded too high but good to have it confirmed. Will start with home made system and see how it goes!!
