Post by: erithwc on March 21, 2011, 02:14:51 pm
i have a few customers that have locked gates i use my point ladder at the moment but its not ideal the customers can't leave the gate unlocked due to security and i don't want to carry keys around with me.

i was looking at getting one of these ladders will be good for conservatory cleans as well anyone got one ?

Eirth i think its a good idea mate why because customers do complain if you dont turn up on the day about leaving there gates open all day and you climbing over...as long as you say to the customer what your doing then im sure they will be fine with it

sorry i didnt read that part  ;D in that case you will have to climb over, i think most use there section ladders as well as there A frame ladders.

if its possible i (when absolutely necessary!) just jump up and climb over if the gate feels solid ;)

Hi
I bought one of those for getting over high fences and gates. Works fine. Rather heavy and a bit of a pain opening it up and lifting it over the gate but apart from that it does help.
But I think that it is time consuming doing this and an additional cost should be put to the customer. It's not as easy as opening a step ladder.

Phone for me too. Besides I'm getting too old to be climbing gates. I'm a window cleaner not a burglar.  ;D

I just use my 8 foot pointer for locked gates ;)

Best way round locked gates is to only do the ones with electric gates/ or manned gatehouse. That way you can simply sit in the van as the gates glide elegantly open as you tap in the keycode or give a nod to the gate house....... ;D

Those ladders are a bit hefty, double pointer is just the job..... ;)

I carry a long crowbar around with me.
It's true as well  ;D .
I get the stepladder out, lean over, and hook the crowbar around the bolt and undo it.  Doesn't work if the bolt is too far down or if they use a padlock.
I do have a collection of gate keys too.
I would say that if erithwc isn't prepared to carry keys and if the customer is not prepared to leave it unlocked for the day, then the position is stalemate and to go elsewhere to earn your money.

I split my ladders and get over locked gates that way. Some may say that this is unprofessional, but it gets the job done as both customers and I are happy.  :)

some i text and others i either climb over using 8ft single pointer or lean over and whack the bolt(if its half way down the gate with my T MOP!!).

on the odd rare occasion i split my 2 section ladders and slide one over the gate.luckily for me i dont have a lot of locked gates on my round at all really!!!if im unlucky 3 or 4 on one working day!!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
