i love the look of those vans not sure about using them for wfp though, when i went to the dealer they told me the 610 payload don't include driver or fuel,

drive and fuel is about - 130kg
350ltr tank and water  - 380kg
bucket and tools          -   10kg
ladder                           - 100kg
water pump& poles      -     5kg

total                              - 625kg

i know the weight are i bit of but overall i think you nwould be close to or over the payload  :-[
if im wrong please tell me because im a one man band and really lake the van  :D

interesting as been looking at one of these ... 610KG payload in such a small van. rekon u could poss get a 400 litre in there even if mounted lengthways ??

most days 400 litres be enough for me (and a few spare 25l barrels in footwell  ;))

cheap van and about 45 / 50 mpg i seem to recall

post office have hundreds of em around here - North Wales

do u need proper ladders daily cos those telescopic ladders would save u weight if u just need them 4 access purposes ?

610kg should be enough I think for a one man set up.

Did the maths on this last week for the financial side ... you can lease 1 of these for about £180 + VAT with 3 payments up front. fuel saving against my transit would be approx £80 a month at todays prices.

£216 a month rental inc vat

less £45 a month in tax claimable (25% of £180) @100% qualifying pre vat rental.

£216 becomes £171 less £80 fuel saving becomes £91 divide by 4.33333 weeks becomes £21 a week for a new van ....... think I just sold myself a new bipper van .... btw I used to sell cars ... can you guess  ;D

That`s what I thought!  ;D Is that with you on them?
You are looking at 15- 20kg for a ladder.

Good work, Ian 101.

i too really like the look of the bipper,as a trad wagon. HOWEVER ,last week a bipper pulled up at a junction near where i was up a ladder  and it suddenly revved up TO THE MAX  and stuck there screaming !  (maybe an electrical fault ?) .    this put me off a bit    :-\

we nearly bought one - but went with the partner in the end

i think the bipper is just a little too small imo .... ok you can get the tank and hose reel in there but thats it .... no room for those days when the other bits n bobs are needed

I rented one when my combo was at repairs.

Couldn't fit a 350l flat tank as it was plylined.

My 21ft xtel pole didn't go inside as there was bulkhead.

But it's a very nippy and economical van, feels more like a small car.

You're better off with a Fiat Doblo 1.3 TD multijet. Still get 45/50mpg fully loaded.

Lots more room & a higher payload!

That must be the smallest turbo diesel engine, wonder if it pulls ok loaded at full payload.

very true but if i get to a level of new van just trade it in for a new un ... if baloon / residual set correctly should always be enough equity left in van after baloon / resdidual cleared.

one thing to bear in mind that unlike PCP or Personal Contract Plan for private individual (PCP = Ford Options or Peugeot Passport or Toyota Terms etc etc they all have a scheme called summit different) the MGFV (minimum guaranteed future value) IS NOT GURANTEED ON A LEASE (it is on a PCP subject to miles being as declared when 1st taking out the plan)

eg if baloon on van set as £2500 for and worth £3200 at trade in time then the other £700 goes towards deposit on next van. ... if u have wrecked van and does loads of miles then basically it aint worth the baloon and ur donald ducked  ;D

I've had mine from new for over four years with a 400L tank and it's fine.

i have one and i can hardly get 45-50mpg.i have a 400l tank but never full maybe 300-350l at a push.i also have a double and single pointer all the time on the roof rack .i usually work with my brother but together have about 140-150 kg. and still don't get more than 40 mpg.next step is to change the oil with a high quality one.i changed the fuel filter recently and made a slight difference.
o and by the way my road tax went from  £185 last year to £200 for the next year.why is that for such a small engine and quite newish?my 2001 skoba fabia 1.9 diesel road tax went from £110 to £90.doesn't make any sense to me

All down to the year it was born. My Toyota Hiace with 2.5 engine only costs me £125 if I remember correctly.  ;D

OK CCS.

My Doblo is the 1.3 registered in Nov 2006. It's road tax is £125 but the numpty govt changed it for those after 1st Jan 2007 to £185/200. But the very latest '10 and later is cheap again. It's down to euro 4/5 emissions and all that guff. My Pug 406 estate 2.0 diesel on a 2001 plate is £125 - my mate's 2000 one is £185!

I don't have a roof rack or ladders but brim my 400L tank every day.

When I work local and hardly move the van I get 40 mpg. When I work ten miles away with a country drive each way I get 50 mpg. Overall it's about 43/45.

But how many guys successfully use/used the Peugeot Partner 600 / Citroen Berlingo 600 with 400 litres tanks in the back? Too small for me but works for many out there.

Drove a Bipper, terrible and very tinney, cheap feel , we have a Berlingo, which is superb compared to the Bipper, imo, but the best is Fiat Doblo 1.6 with a 1 ton payload and can fit all poles inside and drive like a car as based on new Punto. Six speed box and same over 55 mpg fuel economy. If you are not diving them, lease the Bipper

It's actually a 1250cc TD ;D

The pulling power was my first concern when I got it. I was shocked at just how good that engine is! Even fully loaded.
I'd have another fiat like a shot, no problem. ;)
