I think double is fair because it takes twice as long.

The glass is easy - its the frames and the sills on a few, that have been green!

@Glen Parva - You have any domestic work for sale in Stratford Upon Avon?

Cheers

I used to get caught like this a lot. Having a full round helps and not jumping in to get the deal as well. Here's a typical conversation I have with a new punter if I do it right.

Prospective custy (PC): Can you give me a quote for my windows please.
MG: Sure I'll pop over when I've finished here.
PC: Just a ball park will be fine it's that one over there.
MG: Well it depends on how long since they've been cleaned and whether you want 1 monthly, 2 monthly or a one off.
PC: OK - see you in a mo'.

(What I have done here is manage their expectations to give them an immediate price - if they insist and they otherwise tick my boxes I might concede a figure a pound a window for regular work subject to checking it over.)
On site:-

Look around and if minging windows say:-

First clean will be a lot more than my regular rate and for this one it will be £25 first time then either £15 every two months or £12.50 monthly - which would you prefer?

Adjust according to how it feels - whether they are obviously hagglers or PITA's, but always add something for first clean. If fairly clean say £20 if absolutely green say £30.

@Gold - I like it!  :)

Just knowing what to charge before is better, I know you have to make a judgement on what you see when you look around, but looks less like a figure you have just plucked out of your head then. Quote sheets help - I think they have been good for us.
