I bought this 12V Motor Speed Controller (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-30A-DC-Motor-Speed-Control-PWM-HHO-RC-Controller-/221039328668) from ebay for £17.90 including the delivery.
I've been using it for over a week now and it does the job perfect.
P.S. This one is from China so might take 2 weeks to arrive.

Buy on price, buy twice, or in your case, buy on price, buy fifteen.

Hi how does this one cope if you stop the flow of water. I tried one like this from maplins and it burnt out when i tried it?
-
I am using this flow controller with my van setup and it's been in use 6 days a week for these two months.
Everytime i disconnect my pole the flow stops,no problems.
I also stopped the flow by turning the dial on this flow controller few times,no issues.

Nice one,where on E bay?

This one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320569309341) from China, takes about 2 weeks to arrive.
If you don't mind paying extra 6 quid, you can order from this site (http://www.virtualvillage.co.uk/12v-30a-pwm-dc-motor-speed-control-regulate-rc-model-003601-054.html),should be delivered in a short time, they might also accept return if faulty.

It might be too big to fit in a backpack, almost as big as a hand.
If you use your backpack one or two odd jobs each day,you might try restricting the flow with a tap.
