Title: Water meter costs????????
Post by: james stanley on March 15, 2011, 09:49:55 pm
Hi all Just moved house and I now have a water meter. I fill a 500ltr tank 5 days a week plus normal household usage. Any idea how much I will prob be paying a month?

Wessex water charge around £1.80 ( I think!) per cubic metre (1000 litres)

I pay £50 a month. However I am just about to apply for not paying as much for sewerage as all my waste water from the system goes down the pipe that does not need to be treated as sewerage.

As you water company about it and they will send you the forms

You'll probably get hammered for the first year 'cos they won't give you a rebate until they know how much you are using. Put a meter on your ro so you can separate the household usage. Don't send the waste down the drain - it has to be a soakaway.
I think I paid £23 a week for the first year. Claim your water usage on your tax return too.

That sounds really low. I am not on a meter now but in our old house just for household stuff we paid 30 a month mind you that is Cornwall.

When you had the £150 bill were you on a meter at the time?  If not then I guess it shows just how much they've been robbing you for.  Other than that I'd keep my gob well shut about it, certainly don't question it with them ;D

The bloke up stairs from us has a bill about 100 more than mine, for the same property  ???  He questioned it after seeing our bills and they asked if they should look into our bills, thankfully he declined.

They based their billing on our council tax banding, apparently his is more than our's, other neighbours have also questioned that but been told to sod off by the council  ;D

It's all a load of crap

Keep stum mate. If you are using 1000 a week, your bill should be over £1000 a year  :o

I use 700l a week and pay around £800 yearly  :-[
