£550

Used mine for the first time yesterday...It will take getting used to and IMO without training you will struggle to get the best possible resaults.
Good piece of kit though

do they last forever? a one off payment of £550 is not a bad price if they last for years.

I was talking to Dana (the American producer/inventor of the pads) at the cleaning show and he seems to think that they arre good for anything between 5000 and 10000 square feet of marble polishing?
-
£550 for one or for a box?
and the next question, if in a box how many?

Shaun
5 pads in total, although the final polishing pad is a bit like a twister pad but only a much higher grit, 11,000 as opposed to the green twister which is only 3,000.

So do you go through the set like you would do sand paper to get a finer finish?
and
do all of the pads add up to the 5000 - 10000 sq feet
Shaun

Shaun,
Yes you are correct with your assumptions, you work your way through from rough to smooth exactly as with sandpaper, the figures I was given by Dana were between 5000 and 10000 sq feet per pad. However, he did say that the softer the material you are polishing then the less you will get so, Travertine will use up more pads than Marble because it's a softer stone. He also said that until you get used to using them correctly then usage was high, but although they are more or less the same as twister pads they give a much better finish and in less time.
-
So to get the math right £550 could do 5500 sq feet ( simple math for everyone)
that's £1 per 10 sq feet or £1 a metre?
How much can you charge to do this service?
Shaun
-
I was told you can charge anything between 15 and 35 per square metre? Which is believable we charge quite high for quarry or encaustic restoration, and that is not percieved to be particularly high end cleaning as a maintenance polish of travetine or marble is!
-
Wouldn't the more abrasive pads need replacing quicker?
-
Depends on lippage mate.
As you go through the grades it will smooth it out with each one making the impact lower on each grade after that.
Dana tells me they can be used after 100 grit metal bonds though which would save a fair bit of time on heavy restoration jobs.

Who is the distributor in the UK?
-
Alltec

Had a look at them today very impressed, just waiting for the nod that I’m the preferred contractor for their hard floors then I will buy a set.
When I started out in CC I got a local carpet retailer to drop off the old carpets so I could hone my skills any ideas where I can some marble, Travertine etc

Just seen the latest pad on the market, The Leopard pad, which I gotta be honest knocks the spots off the Cheetah. Also heard a fair amount about these monkey pads, people are going bananas for them! ;D
-
There was another available at the stone show. It was well hidden though. It was on a stand selling blasting equipment. My eagle eye spotted it. 4 grades, half price of cheetah will report back when I have used them.

I am not sure who they were. Can probably pick them out if I had a map of the show.
It was stuff for statue and headstone works they were promoting.

I'm quite picky when it comes to cleaning machines. Gotta try it first, then I can tell. ???
-
I can tell you that cleaning machines are pretty good. These guys make the cleaning process go easier and faster. ;) You definitely need to try them :)

Machines are good for cleaning spam as well ;D
