Title: Plylining & Bedliner

Got van yesterday and have removed plyline flooring for applying bedliner paint. What about sides? Some of floor obscured so would you remove sides then replace, or just paint what can get to? (First time van install)

Why didn't you seal the joints and protektacote over the ply. My van is ply lined and was speedlined over two years ago and is fine. Extra soundproofing and insulation. Never understod why people take it out. As long as you seal over the holes it ill be fine. Too much prep work to do on metal

i agree i actuallyply lined my van it was bare metal when i got it then sealed the edges and painted with protecta cote  i think it looks great much smoother Finnish than the metal floor

cheers gav thats an older pic i have the r/o units mounted in there now and ive re-painted the floor as i had to put an engine in there.

also got my sign writing on there now too i'm really pleased with it

Lining was quite tatty frayed edges etc. Understand what you mean but would never of sealed properly.

Looks like I've got some work to do. Has floor paint got to come off or will just a light rub do?

Hi

My advice is to remove all the plylining and protector cote the floor and a couple of inches up the sides. Then replace the plylining on the sides and wheel arches but store the ply floor in your garage so you can put it back as and when you replace the van.
You will always have water spillage and any water that finds its way under the ply floor will not dry out and create rust problems.

I have seen protector cote on a plywood floor, and can assure you that over time gets damaged and the boards absorb water. One of the local lads did this and has subsequently removed the ply flooring and protector coated the floor as per above.
