Just got a shock yesterday. Had a pain in my calf for about 2 weeks. It was slowing getting worse and then it got so bad I went to the docs and they said I had a DVT!
I am now not able to work until the pain subsides and have to take Warfrin for the next 6 months!
Serious stuff.
Although I am very fit and healthy my only vice is the odd fAg (1-5 a day) but I am never having one again if they have caused this DVT, soo painful!
The worse thing is I am already really bored, stuck at home with my feet up thinking how long will it be until I can work again. It has also made me think about income protection as although I am covered for £250 a week (after the first two weeks) that is not enough to keep our heads above water. So to cut the long story short does anyone have an insurance that will pay out more in the event of illness???
Makes you think, doesn't it?!

Have you been on a long haul flight?

I`m amazed that you have insurance that kicks in after 2 weeks at £250. Who is this with and how long will they pay for?,and i know costs vary on age etc. but whats a ball park monthly figure?

No reason for the DVT, apparentley they are reasonably common. I am racking my brain to any reason but none to mind.
I took out insurance with Allied on a 2 week deffered period. The way I saw it was I want the money as soon as poss and this was the earliest one at that time. The bad news is I got a letter saying this policy cannot be renewed as they have lost so much money on it, so I am on the look out for another. It cost £157.50 for the year and last for 52 weeks. I thought it was good value.
Thank you so much for the offer of help with the round Steve (I do appreciate it) but I am just going to take it easy this week and see what happens. I have saved a little for when I am ill so I am going to just try and relax and get better asap.
