Title: Scotland and it's weather...
Post by: Tom White on March 10, 2011, 09:12:27 am
It was looking a bit windy and rainy here in Chepstow (South East Wales); though I live just over the border inside England (hurrah), so I checked out the weather forecast.

Blimey, you guys in Scotland are still getting snow and sleet; it's ruddy March!!!

Respect to you guys, because I wouldn't choose to be a window cleaner in Scotland; especially at prices like £2.50 for a four-bedroomed-detached house with a conservatory!

Why do you do it?

Hardy buggers up here you'r body adjusts, just get out and get on with it. Compact work is my answer to lower than average prices and also the houses up here are generally much smaller than a typical 3 bed semi down south.
Don't think anyone I know goes that low on price however.

There is a theory that not only individuals experience negative karma, but also groups of individuals and even whole Nations.

If that is true, you Jocks must've all done something really terribly bad in a previous life - maybe you were Irish? - to have been born, raised and to have stayed in Scotland.

You all have my profound commiserations.

I hope it stops snowing/sleeting/raining/high winds soon!  ;D

Well I live in colchester and just down the road from me is the driest part of the uk, at osyth, basically Colchester, so it's window cleaning paradise! We have little to no rain! Just sun sun sun! And cold clear winters. Scotland would be like an ocean to me

What I wonder about is the prices up there. I said recently, a custy of ours used to be a WC in mid Scotland I think it was, before he joined the army. He said they put their prices up by 30 or 50p and lost lots of custies because of that!!
3  bed semi's at 3 quid etc  :o Respect you guys. I'd go back to truck driving before I'd be a WC up there.

aye there is folk charging that but they don't have to, I don't, my brother doesn't lots of other window cleaners don't either, admittedly it makes it harder to get decent prices but you can get them

oh and the forecast is for snow all day tomorrow ;D

The Romans had the right idea, conquered the known world, got to scotland stopped and built a wall. My mums side of the family came from Scotland, they were Campbells. Never stopped talking about how great the place was but none of them went back. Scotland's main export after whisky is people.

My cousin and her husband had a hotel north of Inverness. Beautiful in the summer...........

The place that amazes me is Shetland. Flat rocky and the wind cuts across it all year round. So much so there are no trees. It was settled by the Vikings about 1000 years ago. Now my question is this, how could anyone turn up there in a boat and say to themselves "This looks nice, think we'll stay here" ?

It's lovely and Sunny here in England; it's 12.4 Celsius outside (according to my thermometer) and a comfy 23.8 Celsius inside.  Last nights minimum temperature was 7.7 Celsius.

Nice.

I see you've got more snow in North East Scotland today.  Quite unbelievable really when it's sunny here!  Respect to you guys, because I've personally had enough of Winter by the end of January; and here we are nearly half-way through March and you're still getting it.
