Title: minumum price
Post by: giftedk on March 09, 2011, 09:29:45 am
Im thinking about putting up my prices up, and would like a minumum price of £10. Im wfp and have not put my prices up for years but as ive kept them low, it means i cant spend as long on one house as id like. Does anyone have a minumum price they charge ?

new work is minimum £10 if its not directly near some cheaper compact work.i have lots of ultra compact work thats £5-£6-£7-£8 though.

what happens if its a front only near other work?cant charge them £10!!

i definitely price new work higher.some a lot higher if its out of my normal area and i put them on a longer frequency(8 weeks).

depends on area as well.

You will always get some moaners but if you belive that you are doing a good service the rise is defo over due. especially with petrol prices and vat going up. Most people understand

my minimum is £20 but will soon rise to £25. My business plan is different though as I only market for large houses. Sounds weird not being interested in smaller houses but it has worked for us so far.

For British domestics, we now have a €15 minimum. We put prices up when new people move into an ex custies house. So if the old custy was €14, when the new tenants move in we charge €15 and first cleans are minimum 50% extra. Stops getting messed about with one offs.

I agree; minimum prices don't work if you're happy cleaning fronts only with 2 windows and a door. I'll try it with the few customers on our books who have that exact clean; I'm sure they'll be happy with the price rise ::)

I charge a bare minimum of £6, that is my easiest customer with 5 small windows & the doors (WFP) all cleaned to a high standard - only one on that price.

I price for quality & reliability.

cozy don't they insist on clean windows for the march out any more. I used to make a mint on march outs

ok so ive got a few customers that used to be monthly and have now gone over to every two months at the same price. I  want to increase their price as i dont think its fair that customers who have them cleaned every month should pay the same .Im thinking of charging them price and half, what do you do in this situation ?.

Giftedk , i just put up all my prices over the last month , £1 is ok but if i were you i would go for at least £2 , my rises were mostly £1 , some 2,3,5 , i got one grumble from a 5 year est round , i had not put up in 5 years and i now wish i had done em all for £2 at least , i did not lose one custy.
Only you know your round and what they will stomach , but take it from me , i would rather hit them bigger once than twice in a row !
If your not sure do it a street at a time to test the water , that way your in full control of any losses you may incur .
No expert , just saying my piece .

Just put up most of our prices recently, we don't have a minimum, don't know why would you really want to set one.

We treat every property individually and price it accordingly.

I do have a minimum of £10 but it's not very often I charge less than £12.  I do have a few jobs that I've had for a long time where I charge a bit less.

No mate. You can only do march outs locally or it's too expensive. Also if you get the odd estate manager that wants them done, you have to clean the recesses and that's too expensive in time.

Minimum domestic price is £12, as for shops do the village shops get paid in bread from bakers, flowers from florist, take away from indian restaurant, meat from butcher, and the family get their hair cut in hairdressers. Do the pub aswell £25 and a pint. lovely

see how many cleans you do in a year and divide that figure into your cost
so if you do 2400 jobs a year and your cost are £4,800 a year it £2 a job
if you do 1600 jobs a year it £3 a job
even if you do 9600 jobs a year and your cost dont go up (which is unlikely) its still £0.50p
then look at how many you clean per hour, but you have to look at your hours worked

it explains it here, its all straight forward

because you do the rest of the row and you dont want another cleaner on there

I'm sure there would be a que of cleaners wanting that job.

£5 is ok if your window cleaning round is based on that pricing
otherwise its a mistake

Alex `s advice is sound business advice. But I am afraid it could on deaf ears as so many have no idea of business,to those who will look and learn you will see it in your pocket.
£ 1.50 is an insult from any custy.
£ 1.50 is move over and give someone else a chance.

Never make absolute rules. General rules are excellent.

So I have a minimum price of £10. Exceptions:-

Fronts only among existing work.

A handful of old custies in a small road of ex council semi's houses which are still £8/9.

Two old peoples sheltered flats which are £5 each but there are ten of them.

New work? Minimum £11 unless the above applies.
