There was a similar topic before but didn't give me answers to my questions.
I'm doing some domestic cleaning in one of the flats and I've offered to do the stairs as well but till now it were easy cleans and their stairs are bigger and need more detailing.
First of all pricing - would £20 for a monthly clean be ok for a 3 storey building (Edinburgh) ? I would add £5 extra every 6 months or so for windows. And would it actually be a monthly or 4 weekly clean (like in window cleaning) ?
Payment - do you take 12 months in advance or on a monthly basis? If on monthly how do you collect money if there's let's say 6 flats on the staircase?
Secondly - do any of you good people ;D use any antibacterial sprays? I've seen a leaflet somewhere about stair cleaning and they were mentioning that after mopping the whole stairs are sprayed with some antibacterial/disinfectant spray... ?

Window cleaning - Is 4 - 6 weeks.
Staircase cleaning ....? I am not sure what you mean if 6 flats are sharing the stairs?
Basically, work out how long it takes to clean the stairs. Then price it. Include you equipment, chemicals... whatever it is you need to pay for to do the job and your profit and that's your price.
Payment.. No you cannot take 12 months... unless you are offering a huge discount and it to do with cash flow.
Now I don't know your pricing infrastructure so you need to take into account things like staff cost, insurance, Cleaning cover when the cleaner goes on holiday.. I am sure you get the picture. So price it on a 57 week period.
Also if you are only charging £20.00 for a monthly clean how will you even earn out of that.
£5.00 quid for windows... how many windows? Do you require a ladder to clean the windows or will you be using WFP?
Think we need a little more info to help.
As for spraying the stairs with antibacterial spray be careful not to leave the them wet due to H&S dont want anyone breaking their neck

Sorry, may not have been clear enough.
There's a 3 storey building with 6 flats which has stairs that need to be cleaned on a monthly basis. There are also 3 windows (1 on each level) that need to be cleaned every so often. I've got wfp but would probably do it trad from inside.
Re the antibacterial spray - any recommendations?
And how do you organise the payment from all the neighbours in that bulding?

If you are cleaning the communal areas.
Are you not working for the landlord of the property or a Property Management company. They will issue you a payment for the areas cleaned.
Generally in most cases, the tenants pay a fee to the landlord for maintenance. A set amount agreed by all tenants.
So you should not need to get all separate payment from individuals. If on the other hand you are receiving payments from individuals, ask them to agree a set fee, and have a standing order or DD set up to pay you on a confirmed agreed date every month. Otherwise you will find you wont get all the monies.
As for a antibacterial ill have a look later and see what we use I have forgotten the name at present - Sorry

£20 seems dead cheap but as you're already there doing other cleaning maybe then it's ok as a little top up. £20 split between 6 owners every 4 weeks is just £3.33 for each.
i'd go for higher as not only would it be near impossible to get someone else to do it any where near that price, but also they're presumably happy with your work, so this should be when you charge perhaps a little higher then normal.

Its only vacuuming though Dave so probably 15 mins work.

plus lets be realistic about hourly earning potential; would anyone on here expect more- other than if it's bacterially treated etc.

The local companies charge around £30 for a monthly clean, so I could offer that but they (my clients) had a flyer from the city council and they offer a monthly clean for... here it goes - £78 per year! :o

that's a bi-weekly clean not monthly! at £3.25 per visit that is cheap but i imagine they're doing a few tricks to get it that low such as low paid staff/volunteer/forced to work for free as part of a sentence etc, they'll have many sites near by so working in very large numbers, the service is terrible.
i wouldn't worry too much about their pricing. you can't compete with it so go with something that seems good for you and if they go with someone cheaper then they may come back in a few weeks any way. also have to consider that if for some reason you lose the clean you already do in the building then you'll be having to do just the stairs for £20.00 per month, which may sound ok now but if it becomes out the way from all other work, in the middle of when you have important stuff, a lot of hassle for pocket money etc will you want to keep it.

jason: ah you're probably right. that assuming 2 flats on each floor that'd bring it to £19.50 every 2 weeks, maybe more if there is more then 2 each floor. that's almost the same as your £20.00 per month then bluecity
