how do you find the response from flyers?

I reckon you should get five or so from that.
Calls probably spread over a month in my experience.
BUT, with such a small number of leaflets you could get anything from 0 to 10 responses. Mine is based upon drops of 10,000 or so, which tends to smooth out the low response and high response areas.

I dropped 2500 in early December and i got 5 customers

give it time ... should get a few...
customers can be a bit odd.
eg i put a load of flyers round this certain road, no calls, then followed it up with the odd door knock - got 3.
then when i did those 3 houses 2 more came out saying oh great a wc in our road please do ours, we can never find a window cleaner!
i know they had a flyer as i dropped them myself, one of these 2 i even spoke to when i door knocked!
most customers like to see you doing the surrounding neighbours windows before they will ask you...

HI vin i am looking at getting a lot more out there its just getting them out i have 5000 in total and aim to get them out by the end of the week then get some canvassing in next week.
ive never done so much walking

gonna have to start knocking those doors mate as a follow up to the flyers
there must be a small % that have seen the flyer and read it fully and say oh i might give them a ring - but they never get round to it!
its crazy how many new customers will say i couldnt find a window cleaner! ive started counting how many a see around each week - 17 different wcs is the highest and wait until the summer!!!!!

yeah i will do i'm getting the leaflets out this week and door knocking next.

I put aprox 21k through letter boxes when I 1st started and believe a 0,3 to 0.5 is a good return on leaflets....but again others may have been luckier than I.

surely you could have knocked a few doors and give less than an hour of your precious time(or not so precious in your caseand still got more instead of faffing about making and delivering leaflets,waste of time and waste of money.

I have dropped about a 1000 and had 3 but want to follow up the others.
What do you say at the door as I have never knocked but need to drum up more business.

I found when I used to leaflet that a second drop on the same area a couple of weeks later brought them out of the woodwork.
It seems many were going to call and then forgot about it, the second leaflet jogs their memory.

its worth looking at a local street map before leafletting.i find best results from edge of town , the places that dont get leaflets are even better, lonely roads leading out of town
another good place is the town centre itself,houses up side alleyways , old victorian

Just started a while ago and not that I am very experienced but definately getting a good response when actually knocking on doors and talking to the owners.
Its a bit nerve wracking to begin with but after 3 or 4 I find I have calmed down and I am not so panicky! - I have had one person just said no and shut the door in my face, most people are happy to listen.
I dont hard sell or knock the competition. All I say is "Hi, I am expanding my round and I am just enquiring whether you require the services of a regular reliable window cleaner" - most say no they have one, to which I say fine but can I leave you my leaflet which details other services that I offer.
I actually got my best response door knocking on Saturday. Just a thought

Ive canvassed 2 nights a week the past 6,and people who havent answered have had a leaflet (not many,cant be any more than 100 at the very most)
Ive had around 10calls for windows and some have had/are having gutter cleans aswell.
i was really sceptical about even bothering posting as my leaflets are far from flash!!

I'm still getting responses from leaflets we delivered three years ago. They take time, sometimes they get put away in a drawer or whatever and kept till they are needed.

Hi Mark, all good answers so far, like Vince says, you still get calls years later. I've just been to "Fatten up " opne of the areas we work and leafleted first, then follwed up knocking 3 days later. Fantastic result. Low cost and effective for fast growth. Having said that, quality custies come from leaflets alone.
I've always built or fattened up this way. Always listen to your uncle Cozy. ;) ;D ;D

I'm an oven cleaner so obviously a bit different but ive had calls from leaflets 3 years old!
Ive had 10 jobs from 80 leaflets once and 2 jobs fron 2,000
I havnt discovered a foolproof guaranteed return yet >:(

I must just be lucky I get 2/3 per hundred but I target the ares I choose and drop all my own leaflets as I dont trust other to do the job.
