Hi can anyone tell me what is the best way of cleaning Portland Stone?

I've used a variable speed grinder, with a soft backing pad and a high grit paper before. Re-dressd the stone, it looked great. Just make sure you keep it wet. That only works for flat stone and the methodwas used on upright pillars.

you can use running water not under pressure and a nylon hand brush and srubb the stone down slowly (let the water sink into stone ) or sub the work out!!!!
