Title: Another post mover
Post by: P @ F on March 03, 2011, 11:17:09 pm
Had my fill today , went to collect my £12 from custie , husband came to door and says did my wife have a chat with you , i said yes , she told me to leave them in nov and start again in march , this i did and was asked by him who gave you the go ahead , i told him we are now in march so i cleaned them , she never said to clear it first , march is march surely !
Red rag to bull was the case , i went mental , told him to keep the money as i was trying to run a business and was not in the game to get ped upon , i said i am sorry for my shortness but if you had any idea how much money i lose per year from writing off debt  due to people moving posts to suit them .
He saw my view and became sheepish , then says i have no cash in the house , can you come back at the weekend !
Yeh mate , im gonna waste my time commin back to find your in the city spending your money on your dizzy fookin wife , goin on monday to catch her , see what she says .
Had my fill , no more B.S. for me , if i have to decimate my round to get it into shape then so be it , taken crap from these idiots out there for too long , cue Bob Dylan !

Rich, we don't do "Leave it till spring" mate. And don't forget, it's easier to find GOOD custies then it is to find GOOD window cleaners.

Indeed sometimes you have to take a few hits to bash the round into a decent shape.
I once gave away (no charge) work worth over £500 a month to help with this - back around 2001.  It was my original work and badly priced so didn't have the cheek to sell it.  The guy I gave it to was happy as it got him started.  There was a lot of £5 - £7 a house stuff in there.  You could earn reasonably out of it (even with a ladder) if you slogged because they were mostly within a couple of miles of each other.
I would have a pretty full round these days too but for WFP.  I get through the work so much more quickly.  Time to build it some more.

i only have one commercial customer who i leave in the winter(caravan holiday park).

any domestic customers i dont take any "leave it til spring" nonsense.i politely tell them i work all year round but offer them 8 weekly instead.

i had a customer a few months ago say "leave it this time" twice in a row and said can you leave them til spring.she said the windows dont need doing(they were filthy by the way!).i said sorry love but i dont work that way but i can offer you 8 weekly.she said yes thats ok but can you leave it this time(again!for the third time!).no good reason eg building work, painting etc.i just laughed and walked away!!

i dont lose it with the customer though.i very rarely have any people who ask me to leave it til spring.

sounds like you need a good sort out mate.surely window cleaning is still bringing in a good wedge of money?

it sounds like your struggling and comes across desperate having a go at a customer just because they dont have your money there and then.cant they send a cheque or pay online?

best wishes

It was time these people got shouted at , once i didnt get there for 2 months , the husband actually went out of his way to stop his car on a busy street to see that i got there shortly , i explained that our newborn daughter was having health problems and i would be back soon ,
When i got back to them and did the clean , knocked on the door for the cash , she comes out and says you didnt do the con roof , i told her that it was never in the price , i just gave it a going over now and again as a favour , her reply was , well there seems little point having any of the windows done then !
Took my money and walked off , thing is i actually took the time to do the roof this time , and then the posts got moved ..........THEY NEEDED SHOUTING AT ME THINKS ........OR DUMPING !

Dont play the PRO card with me , i have always played ball and bent over backwards , i dont have to do it anymore , and i simply wont , as already stated , times are changin  ;D

Dazmond, its not as bad as it sounds , its more like 5 panes of pitched glass , the con has 2 glass sides and 1 brick side , so the roof is of no problem 1 min per pane if that !
I have all but 1 in the street , 6 at £12 and 1 at £20 , £92 for 2.5 hrs work cant be moaned at .

I know exactly where you are coming from Rich. You literally bend over backwards to do a good job for them and then get treated as if you are something stuck on their shoe and they are doing you a favour. {I bet they were slightly older}
I am doing a small conny roof for a couple next week and I have my doubts about them. No eye contact when I met him, he just opened the door and gestured with his head to come in. I stayed where I was and introduced myself and stuck my hand out, he looked slightly shocked and almost became human for a minute but then reverted to an old bigot. Anyway, £80 is £80, so the job will get done but as a regular customer I couldn't stand it.
