Title: Static Hose Reel Setup
Post by: GoodFella2006 on March 01, 2011, 10:10:38 am
Hi.

I have a combo van and i'm thinking about removing the spare wheel and sticking a hose reel there.

I'm thinking about replacing the hose with 100m microbore, removing that handle and using a drill to rewind.

I will need to make two holes on the van floor, one for the hose coming from the pump, one for the drill going into the reel.

Also one hole on the bumper as the output port.

I understand auto rewind reels wont take anything more than 30 meters cause of the spring system.

Do you think this might work? Does this hose reel has to sit up right?

Sorry about the language as you know i am the black sheep of this forum  ;D

if its not upright all the hose will lay to one side and jam inside the casing.

Also, I wouldnt want to use a drill to rewind with all those plastic fittings on that reel

Thanks for the replies and links.

if its not upright all the hose will lay to one side and jam inside the casing.

You are right mate, the hose has to be layered on to the reel manually,i can't get under the van to do this so it's a no no.

But if you ever used one of those auto rewind (autoreel) ones,it actually does that itself.

I just need to find out if those auto rewind ones work sitted horizontal. And of course it has to be smaller than a spare wheel to fit under the van.

I'm just trying to make some room in my van to put a trolley or backpack.

That white Berlingo setup looks very professional.

Instead of using a drill, there are 12v winches on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-2000lb-ELECTRIC-WINCH-RECOVERY-CARAVAN-BOAT-TRAILER-/110610082188?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item19c0dfe98c) for 50 quid, that can be adapted to the hose reel.
