Firstly chaps I have to say a huge thank you to you all and this site. I would not have expected to find the help and advice I've got when trying to setup a business, especially from those in the game.
I was not a great fan of WFP but the more I think about it and the more I read I realize that unless I want to run a duck board up a roof and sod about, WFP is the only answer for some properties.
So if possible I'd like to pick up a backpack system, I still want to do the trad work, it's just silly to miss out one or two windows on a job because we don't have a pole.
I've seen a few but having no experience with them I seek your advice guys. I assume that I'll need an RO setup to make the water in the first place so I'd like a list of what I need, a complete beginners system would be handy. I'm not looking for the cheapest kit that's going to fall apart either.
Cheers.

Do you know how hard/soft your tap water is? As in PPM with a TDS meter.
This will first determine if you require an RO or just DI.
-
I have a PPM of 300 according to a meter I have but it only measures in increments of 100.
-
So it must be between 200 & 300 then?
In that case you would be better off with an RO.
A DI would still do the job, especially if you're only using it for odd windows BUT you WILL end up using it more & more untill you're using it most of the time, so an RO would be the best bet here IMO. ;)

how much water would you need a week ???
and were are you based i could sell you a few ltrs a week if you only need it for the odd job

Thanks Erith, that's always an option at first I guess and a nice offer. I'm down the road in Greenhithe mate. I've seen a few back packs on the window cleaning warehouse but I'd like your opinion guys.
-
i can't help you with the back pack as i bought the trolley but i think most people put the back packs on a sack barrow anyway.

Yes I've only seen one wc that uses a back pack and he's built like a door ;D I assume they weigh a fair bit ;D I'm certainly not built like a door ;D I just think I'd rather get a back pack and use a trolley if I need to.
I'm off down to shineline tomorrow on a shopping trip, I don't think they have a pack version available but I'll get a good look at poles while I'm there.

get a decent trad pole to do those high windows and a swivel mop 10 incher and a 12 inch wagtail squeegee . you can then do everything without any duckboards that you mention .

Simples init ;D Yep I think you right there mate, just that I have no experience with the equipment and I always prefer to ask the users rather than the salesman ;) I will probably spend the next week working out what items I need then off to the army surplice shop hunting for a super heavyweight A frame rucksack ;D Then I'll have to grow them muscles ;D
